My Focke-Wulf 190D
More photos of this aircraft
This is one of my favorate aircraft to fly. It is a German Focke-Wulf Fw 190D. It's the same plane as in the background only in the D verson with the longer nose. It isn't scale but it looks good in the sky and thats all I was looking for when I bought it. I got it at the 1996 aircraft auction, before I was a member of GCRCC. It did fly once on Sept 28, 1996 if you can call it I flight. At that time it had a Royal 46 on it. When I took off the engine went lean and flew terribly slow. The engine died at the south end of the runway, stalled while I tried to turn it and crashed into the runway, ripping out the gear. After that I set it aside to work on better things. Then when I got my Super Tigre 45 I decided to have another go at flying this plane. If you look at the specifications you will see that it is slightly overpowered.
I maidened this aircraft on February 1, 1998. It is very fast and very stable. I might even fly it at the circus this year.
