Expert Options for the AR8000

This page shows some of the expert options available for the AR8000.

Entering the expert mode
To switch the AR8000 to EXPERT mode, you must:
Press [FUNC][LOCAL]
Press [DOWN] to move to
"NEWUSER"
Rotate [DIAL] to show "EXPERT"
Press [ENT]

Scan options
SCAN - DELAY time
Description - Affects how long the reciever will remain on a frequency
after it becomes inactive
Options - 0.0 (off) to 9.9 seconds

Changing -
Press [FUNC][SCAN]
Press [UP] or [DOWN] to
move the cursor to DELY
Rotate [DIAL] to change
setting
Press [ENT] to accept
or
Press [UP] or [DOWN] to
move the cursor to AUDIO

SCAN - AUDIO scan
Description - When on, the AR8000 will remain on a channel that
has modulation (voice, etc.). It will skip unmodulated channels (blank
carriers).
Options - On/Off

Changing -
Press [FUNC][SCAN]
Press [UP] or [DOWN] to
move the cursor to AUDIO
Rotate [DIAL] to change
setting
Press [ENT] to accept
or
Press [UP] or [DOWN] to
move the cursor to FREE

SCAN - FREE scan
Description - Determines how long the AR8000 remains on an active
before resuming
Options - 0.0 (off) - 99 seconds

Changing -
Press [FUNC][SCAN]
Press [UP] or [DOWN] to
move the cursor to FREE
Rotate [DIAL] to change
setting
Press [ENT] to accept
or
Press [UP] or [DOWN] to
move the cursor to LEVEL

SCAN - LEVEL scan
Description - The AR8000 will only stop on a channel with a signal
above the predetermined level.
Options - 0 (off) - 7

SCAN - MODE scan
Description - Determines wheather ALL memory channels will be scanned
or only those of certain reciever mode
Options - ALL, WFM, NFM, AM, USB, LSB & CW

Changing -
Press [FUNC][SCAN]
Press [UP] or [DOWN] to
move the cursor to MODE
Rotate [DIAL] to change
setting
Press [ENT] to accept

Search options
SEARCH - DELAY time
Description - Affects how long the reciever will remain on a frequency

Options - 0.1 - 9.9 seconds/off/hold

Note - HOLD keeps the AR8000 on the frequency untill the [UP] or
[DOWN] key is pressed
Changing -

Press [UP] or [DOWN] to
move the cursor to DELY
Rotate [DIAL] to change

Press [ENT] to accept
or
Press [UP] or [DOWN] to
move the cursor to AUDIO

Step size
Description - This allows you to change the step size
Options - Can change in multiples of 50Hz.
Location - Section 6-9, page 38
Changing -
Press [FUNC][2]
Enter in step size
Press [ENT]
Example - To enter in a step size of 300 Hz
Press [FUNC][2]
Press [.][3]
Press [ENT]

Power save feature
Description - This feature helps the battery last longer by shutting
off the "reciever" portion of the AR8000.
Options -
Delay - 1 to 99 seconds / off
Cycle - 2 to 9 seconds
Location - Section 16, pages 97-98
Notes -
Delay determines how soon the reciever become "dormant
(then cycle)"
Cycle determines how long the reciever will remain active
looking for activity the become dormant
Changing -
Press [FUNC][LOCAL]
Press [UP] or [DOWN] to move
the cursor to NEWUSER or EXPERT
Rotate the [DIAL] to show EXPERT
Press [UP] or [DOWN] to move
the cursor to POWER-SAVE menu
Rotate the [DIAL] to change
the DELY setting
Press [UP] or [DOWN] to
CYCLE
Rotate the [DIAL] to change
the CYCLE setting
Press [ENT]
