Well, you wanted to see me -
here I am. My name is Georgi Dinkov and I come from the beautiful country
Bulgaria. Currently I am a student at
Georgetown University , double-majoring
in Economics
and Math
, and minoring/majoring in Cognitive
Science. I graduated from First
English Language School - Sofia
and the National Business School - Sofia.
Besides academics, sports play a major role in my life, so I joined the
Georgetown University Crew
and water polo varsity teams. Whatever
remains of my so-called "business" time, I spend it working for the
Academic Computing Services
at Georgetown and maintaining some of
the university's web pages. But no matter how involved with personal projects
I may seem to you, I haven't forgotten where I come from, so I established
the Georgetown University Bulgarian Students Association (GUBSA) which
will promote the Bulgarian spirit, culture and tradition. Check out soon
for a link to the web site of G.U.B.S.A.
In my leisure time (which I
don't have in abundance) I like to read. My favorite books are Alice
in Wonderland , the novels about
Ostap Bender, and of course the stories by Chudomir, Elin Pelin, Nikolay
Haitov, Aleko Konstantinov and other great Bulgarian writers (there are
some links around). I also enjoy
watching movies, wasting time with web
design, playing soccer,chess or
just hanging out with friends and "consuming" the traditional Bulgarian
cuisine and Bulgarian
drinks. Hmmmm... drinking! Ok, you
got me. One of my manias is enjoying authentic Bulgarian
wine and I can assure you, it's
a mania worth having:-)
My future plans are not very
clear because I don't like playing with my luck - as we Bulgarians say
"Chovek predpolaga, Gospod razpolaga". I want to take Ph.D. degree in Economics,
do research, write books, climb mountains, practice sports, meet cool people,
make lots of friends, contribute to my country's welfare - live a very,
very challenging and interesting life. Sounds goofy, eh? Ha-ha, we have
a proverb about that too - "Pazi Boje ot vdahnoveni idioti!" :-)
That's my whole brief history
for now. Check out for additions as my experience grows.
For those of you
who would like to see the formal side, here is my resume.
