There are various kinds of ham radio clubs. Some relate to different areas of
specilaization within the hobby, such as the Southern California DX Club and the
Southern California Contest Club. Others serve specific areas, such as the Simi
Settlers, the San Fernando Valley Radio Club, the Santa Clarita Amateur Radio
Club, the Antelope Valley Amateur Radio Club and the Conejo Valley Amateur Radio
Club. Others, like LARS, the
JPL Amateur Radio Club
and the Southern California Edison Club, are associated with the company which
employs the ham operator. There are also national clubs like AMSAT (the
organization that supports the construction and deployment of ham radio
satellites), and ethnic and religious based clubs.
In the Los Angeles area, many clubs are members of the
Los Angeles Council of Radio Clubs
. Similarly, many clubs are affiliated with the
American Radio Relay League
.
