Incident Reporting Guidelines

Hartford Citywide would like to thank you for taking the time to report an incident on the air. Our Executive Board, along with the members, have set up the following guidelines to make it easier to report an incident. If you have any questions, comments or suggestions about the reporting guidelines, 10-Codes or any other aspect of Hartford Citywide please direct them to a board member.
1. What Types of Incidents
A. CONFIRMED WORKING FIRES in CT, Western MA, RI and NY State east of the Hudson River.
B. CONFIRMED MVA W/EXTRICATION and/or Lifestar/Lifeflight in CT, Western MA, RI and NY State east of the Hudson River.
C. Lifestar/Lifeflight - Code 100's - On scene trauma calls only. No Medicals or Suicides. For shootings or stabbings please use appropriate 10-code.
D. Major EMS Incidents.
E. Haz Mat incidents with evacuatios or injuries.
F. Multiple Alarm fires from out of State (see list below).
G. Any unusual incident; severe weather warnings.
H. Major news events.
NOTE:Brush fires (10-21) are announced as a FYI only if the following exists:
1. Life hazard as a result of the fire.
2. Structures are involved (than it's a 10-75).
3. Evacuations of people.
4. Road closures or other transportation interruptions.
2. Out of State Fires
A. RI - confirmed working fires and greater.
B. MA (other than Western), VT, ME, NH, NY State (west of Hudson River), NYC and NJ - 2nd Alarms and greater.
C. All other states - 3rd Alarms and greater.
3. Announcing an incident (use 10-Codes)
A. Car# __ to all citywide units (on repeater) as a Dispatcher say "Hartford Citywide announcing a.."
B. Appropriate 10-Code or Level of Alarm
C. in City/Town and State
D. Street address and box number if available
E. Building or incident information
F. If received by pager state "via page relay" at (military time)
G. Appropriate channel call sign.
4. Time of day guidelines
A. From 0700-2300:
1. All original calls and updates.
2. General messages and tests.
B. From 2300-0700:
1. All original calls.
2. Updates if greater alarm or unusual circumstance.
3. No messages on primary frequencies.
4. Messages restricted to secondary frequencies.
