Active in local aviation, our activities include: flying events, CFI workshops, Flying Companion Seminars, air races, and painting airmarkings for navigation. We encourage the public interest in flying and promote awareness of womens aerospace contributions. As supporters of women in aviation and the aviation community, our goal is to unite women pilots and act as mentors to women who are obtaining their pilots licenses. We also give scholarships for flight training advancement.
The women of the San Diego County chapters of the 99s are private pilots to ATPs, lawyers, professionals, secretaries, counselors, biologists, computer analysts, bussinesswomen, and airline/charter pilots. As women pilots we all share a common interest and accomplishment- Flight! We are always looking for women who want to enjoy the company of like minds and support our aviation community.
Student pilots are always welcome too! We are here to help YOU. Todays students are tomorrows pilots. Friendship, support and encouragement are what we have to offer. You can also participate in all 99s events supporting general aviation while still a student. Please bring your enthusiasm and love of flight. No experience necessary!
We also have a link for Flight Scholarships to help female students find additional resources to help pay for flight training.
If you are looking to start training and want a fabulous '99' for a flight instructor, the SD chapter has three fixed wing and 1 rotorcraft:
Jill Baker, Valerie Berg, Norva Gandolphi & Elizabeth Cook.
Visit The SD 99s Flight Instructors Page to find out more and get contact information.

Are you an aspiring Student Pilot?
Too often, learning to fly is a solitary effort. You think "Has anyone else ever experienced the same problems I'm now facing?" The answer is YES. "Will I ever do this maneuver right?" The answer is YES. "I wish I could talk to other women who have gone through this." YOU CAN.
Women student pilots can join The Ninety-Nines as Future Women Pilots. To join as a student, you must have a current medical certificate or equivalent document for non-U.S. applicants. You can remain as a Future Woman Pilot in The Ninety-Nines for two years.
More good news is that by joining as a student, at the discounted reate of $20 per year (plus $10 initiation fee for the first year), you start accumulating the time required to apply for an Amelia Earhart Memorial Scholarship! Every member with at least two years of membership is eligible to apply for an AE grant that will cover the cost of one entire rating or license.
With The Ninety-Nines, you are in the company of friends. You receive understanding, encouragement and strength. You can participate in 99s sponsored flying activities, aviation education, and community service. When you receive your license, you are eligible to join as a full member, ready to help others coming in as students. So come join us and truly understand the magic of women pilots.
A must have for any student pilot is a subscription to Flight Training Magazine. The first 6 months are FREE to you as an introductory gift, so you may as well sign up! It's like a CFI in your mailbox every month. Visit Flight Training Magazine for more information-it's excellent!
For a packet of information on the many benefits of membership in The Ninety-Nines, call International Headquarters at 1-800-994-1929 in the U.S. or 405-685-7969 outside the U.S. or send an e-mail to The 99s Int'l Headquarters. Please include your name and mailing address.
