ASTRO-IMAGES BY GSFA

Globular Clusters: M3 in Canis Venaticorum (Top), M13 in Hercules.
On the left: raw images
center: increasing gamma of the image, the center of the clusters has been revealed
right: logarithmic equalization, the border of the clusters has been revealed
Telescope: 6"/5 Newtonian, CCD: SBIG ST-4, M3,exp.= 10 min., M13,exp.= 6 min.
Staz.Astronomica Aro- Le Bagiane (Buonconvento) - G. Bianciardi

Abell 2319, Galaxy Cluster in Cygnus, ½ billion light-years from the Earth.
Image processing by numeric filtering (median filter) and false color show galaxies as green and blue objects, while the stars of our galaxy appear white.
Telescope: 10"/3.3 SC, CCD: SBIG ST-4, exp.= 10 min.
Staz.Astronomica Aro- Le Bagiane (Buonconvento) - G. Bianciardi

Center of M42. After application of a median filter and false color, the chaotic envelope of gas of the trapezium stars appears evident.
Telescope: 10"/3.3 SC, CCD: SBIG ST-4, exp.= 1 min.
Staz.Astronomica Aro- Le Bagiane (Buonconvento) - G. Bianciardi

M51 the Whirlpool Galaxy and her companion.
After a median filter and false color, the envelope of gas (hydrogen) that sorrounds the two galaxies appears evident.
Telescope: 10"/3.3 SC, CCD: SBIG ST-4, exp.= 10 min.
Staz.Astronomica Aro- Le Bagiane (Buonconvento) - G. Bianciardi

M8
An Unsharp Masking filter reveals the nebulosity and the stars inside itself.
Telephoto lens F300 mm./4, CCD: SBIG ST-4, exp.= 10 min.
Staz.Astronomica Aro- Le Bagiane (Buonconvento) - G. Bianciardi

16 CygniB (left) and Rho Coronae Borealis (right): two solar-type stars with planets.
Telephoto lens give large fields even using little CCD device.
16 CygB: Telephoto lens F500 mm/8; Rho CrB: Telephoto lens F135 mm/2.5 (field = 1°); CCD: SBIG ST-4, exp.= 1 min.
