Lobes of the Brain
Frontal Lobe:is located in the most anterior section of the brain. It is in the front of your skull, right under your forehead.
Functions:
- It gives us a conscious awareness of what we do in
enviroment.
- It determines how we initiate activity in response
to our enviroment.
- It allows us to judge what occurs in our daily activities.
- Controls our emotional responses and our expressive language.
- Assigns meanings to words we choose.
- Involves word associations
- Stores memory fo habits and motor activites.
Parietal Lobe: is located near the back and top of the head
Functions:
- Contains the location for visual attention and touch perception.
- Goal directed voluntary movements.
- Malipulation of objects.
- Integration of different senses that allow for understanding a single concept.
Occipital Lobe: is the most posterior. It is located at the back of the head.
Functions:
Temporal Lobe: is located at the side of the head and above the ears.
Functions:
- It is responsible for the hearing ablities.
- Memory acquistion
- Some visual perceptions
- Categorization of subjects
