Lobes of the Brain

Frontal Lobe:is located in the most anterior section of the brain. It is in the front of your skull, right under your forehead.

Functions:

• It gives us a conscious awareness of what we do in enviroment.
• It determines how we initiate activity in response to our enviroment.
• It allows us to judge what occurs in our daily activities.
• Controls our emotional responses and our expressive language.
• Assigns meanings to words we choose.
• Involves word associations
• Stores memory fo habits and motor activites.

Parietal Lobe: is located near the back and top of the head

Functions:

• Contains the location for visual attention and touch perception.
• Goal directed voluntary movements.
• Malipulation of objects.
• Integration of different senses that allow for understanding a single concept.

Occipital Lobe: is the most posterior. It is located at the back of the head.

Functions:

• Vision
• Vision Fields

Temporal Lobe: is located at the side of the head and above the ears.

Functions:

• It is responsible for the hearing ablities.
• Memory acquistion
• Some visual perceptions
• Categorization of subjects
