The February 1998 meeting of the MCRC will be held on Wednesday the 11th at 7:00 PM in the Cook, Inc. building located at 925 So Curry Pike.
GENERAL: Attendance at January’s club meeting was 19. The year started off well for some and crappy for others. Our beloved Dave Poland is now owner of the clubs "Dork" award as Dave saw fit to be the first person of the New Year to wipe an aircraft. Dave now knows everything there is about stalling an aircraft tooo close to Terra Firma.

Congratulations to all the winners of the New Years Day Glider Contest. Attendance for this Annual event was very good as pilots from the Tri-State area converged at the I.U. stadium parking to pit their skills against the 20 to 25 mph winds. If you want to win this contest in heavy wind you gotta have a "Duck".

Mary Drake brought her world class Chile while Dan drove the car. Leslie Hodges kept an ample supply of Hot Dogs coming while Marty and Diana Bassett saw fit to attack our waistlines with home made Brownies, Cake and Hot Chocolate.

This year’s event was by far the best one I have attended. Next year’s event will be the 20th and I’m sure Brent has something special in store for us all.

Please join me in welcoming our newest club member Steve Jackson. Steve is one of those glider guy’s, so that proves that we’re not all perfect. Remember that on Tuesdays the field belongs to the glider guy’s so please be respectful if you go out there and their using the field.

The Intro Pilots for this year are Richard Anderson, Bruce Hoffman and Dave Poland. If any of you new guys need some flight training please contact one of these swell guys.

We now have 7 confirmed sponsors for our advertising campaign which is outstanding. If anyone has a lead to a new sponcer please contact one of the club officers with their name and number.

NEW NEWS: Starting this month the NewsLetter will be sent out via E-Mail to those who have E-Mail. The News Letter may be viewed at the clubs new Web Site at:

Lou Magyar is the official Web Master and is in need of pic’s and other nifty things to put in there. For those of you who have not given me your E-Mail address please drop me a line at GyroNut@tecwrite.com or you may call me and leave it on my voice mail. This could save the club 4 to 5 bucks a month in postage, which adds up, so please contact me as soon as possible.

If you have anything that might be of interest to the club please contact Lou Magyar at 812-876-8076 or you may drop him a line at magyar@nebeng.otis.com
