April 2002 Edition
March Meeting
Due to a small communications problem, the March
meeting of the Monroe County R/C Club got underway at 7:10 p.m. outside the Eye
Center on the sidewalk. The weather was nice so it wasn’t a problem meeting
outside. There were twenty people in attendance.
Please welcome two new members to the Monroe
County R/C Club. Zeth Teeters of Unionville and Rich Bayliff of Martinsville.
Seth joined last month and Rich was voted in at the March meeting.
It was reported that the “Model Aviation”
magazine subscription that we have been sending to Fairview School, has been
renewed. Several of our corporate sponsors / advertisers have also renewed with
us for another year.
Special guest, Phyllis Naylor, our field’s land
owner, made a special presentation on the state of our relationship. There were
some rumors floating around after the Monroe County Parks Dept. meeting where a
proposal was made concerning a public flying site in Western Monroe County.
Phyllis made it quite clear that our field was not in danger and that we were
welcome on the Naylor property for the foreseeable future. We already knew that
the Naylors were good people but it was very nice of Phyllis to come out to
address the club. We were very lucky that she just happens to be on the Park’s
Dept. Board and was at that meeting where the statements were made that started
the rumors. Thanks Phyllis!
The bylaws review and the annual financial
report were tabled until the April meeting so that we could be indoors &
seated (& sleep) while taking care of the required business of being an AMA
chartered club.
We need to review the club policy on guest
flying at the field and post this policy at the field. Discussion on this topic
will continue at the April meeting.
It was voted to waive the officer’s dues again
this year. The president, vice president, secretary/treasurer, webmaster, &
newsletter editor, will not have to pay any club dues again this year, in
exchange for working their butts off for the club.
The annual bulk fuel order is underway. Dave
Poland is the man in charge. Call Dave at 765-342-8397 and leave him a message
or e-mail him at david.poland@gm.com. He needs to know how many gallons
you want and what flavor (10%, 15%, 30%, 2-stroke, or 4-stroke). The fuel will
be shipped to Sexton Vault Co. and distributed from there. Please be ready
to pay for your order when it arrives.
The deadline to get your fuel order in is April
10!
The AMA frequency chart & rules that
were posted at the field had a rough year. They will be re-ordered and
Mark & I will come up with a better method of protecting them.
Jimmy Vanvleet did the show & tell this
month with his brand new Super Skybolt. Nice job Jimmy. You don’t want to land
this one in the beans!
The meeting was closed at 7:42.
