September Meeting
I missed about half of the meeting. A few of us were tardy because we played too long at the field before heading into Bloomington for the meeting at the Eye Center. What I gathered was that the Pizza Night at Pizza Hut West was set for October’s meeting night (10/9). We will try to get some coupons passed around & e-mailed. Invite everybody you know to come out & help us raise money for charity. Present a coupon at Pizza Hut West in Bloomington when you pay your bill between 4:00 pm & 9:00 pm. Mark says he will try to get the regular meeting wrapped up early at the Eye Center so we can get over to the Pizza Hut & partake.
The nomination committee for club officer elections this year is Dave Poland & Brian Elliott. If you wish to nominate someone for a club office, contact one of them. If we are lucky, we will be able to railroad the current officers into accepting their positions again. They’ve done a great job for the last several years!
The Christmas dinner / meeting will be December 11. The committee to find a suitable & affordable location this year is Marty Bassett & Brian Elliott. If you know of a nice location that can accommodate around 50 people, has good service, is affordable, and has good beer, contact the committee.
One new member was voted into the club at the meeting. Please welcome Hartzell Martel of Bloomington.
Tim Sparks reported on his trip to the jet fly in MO.
It was decided that there would be no full scale paragliders allowed to use the club field. The liability is just too great.
The meeting was closed at 8:05 pm. with around twenty-one people attending.
Monroe County “Air Fair 2002”

he Monroe County R/C Club had a very good turnout for their display at the Monroe County Airport’s Air Fair 2002 on September 14. Lots of different kinds of model aircraft were presented by several club members. The weather wasn’t the greatest for flying but Bob Watson & Joe Jackson got some air time in. Tim Sparks also got in a flight when he gave a ducted fan demonstration out on the airport’s taxi way. We passed out some club information and answered a lot of questions from the Air Fair goers. Thanks to all the members who came out to represent the club at the air fair. I know there are some pictures out there but I’ve not received any yet.Bits…
Several club members were seen at the GyroNuts fly-in at McDaniel Field in Martinsville over the weekend of September 13—15. Where are all the pictures?
The annual trek to Harrison, Ohio, for their IMAA event, didn’t happen this year. On their way out of Martinsville on September 20, the caravan was stopped in it’s tracks by the F3 tornado that ripped through Indiana. We’ll try again next year, weather permitting...
