Meteors

Countdown to the next meteor peak. (Geminids)

leonid_lovato2_med.jpg (3830 bytes) The Leonid meteor shower of November 18, 1999 is expected to be one of the best viewing opportunities this century.  With a telescope, you should even be able to see flashes of the meteors striking the dark side of the moon.  Naked eye flashes on the moon, may be possible, but should be rare.  Nasa also intends to send a weather balloon up during the meteor shower to catch live images of the shower high in the atmosphere AND possibly catch some meteor dust (visit www.leonidslive.com for more details).

11-18-99: The Leonids were spectacular, just not in the USA....  I hope to have some pictures from sites around the world soon....
