Electronegativity
Colors are used to illustrate the gradient of electronegativity values from 4.0 for F, to 0.7 for Fr.

nd
ed., by Leo J. Malone, Wiley: New York (1985)
F, O, and N have the highest electronegativity values, and can participate in hydrogen bonding. (hydrogen bonding page should be forthcoming...)

occurs between two elements which differ considerably in their electronegativities.

covalent bond
occurs between two elements which are of similar electronegativities.
