Rwanda: the Holocaust of Our Times

This Web site has only just started construction.

Much original content will be added over September-October 1997.

April, 1994, and the evil within all of us rose with the horror of what it is to be human.

We wondered how it could have happened. We struggled to understand the meaning of the impossible.

Imagine if, in four short weeks, a gang of men armed with machetes, went door and door and systematically killed every man, woman, and child in the city of Hamilton, Ontario.

There have been many horrifying massacres and genocides in world history. But this one stands out for the sheer speed of brutality. More than 500,000 people were killed by the most conservative estimates. That is 125,000 a week, or 18,000 a day. That boils down to 750 an hour, or 12 a minute, or one murder every five seconds--for four weeks!!!
