For what does the URP stand?

The United Republic Party platform (written by Ryan Akers) captures the essence of our beliefs.  The planks listed explain how we feel on issues which affect each and every citizen of CWOL2k.  If the platform matches your personal feelings on these subjects, or if you simply wish to belong, we welcome you!  While the Reform Party calls itself the "Party of the Administration," the URP is the PARTY FOR THE PLAYERS, be you a role-player or a wargamer!  Though not stated in our platform, the separation of roles and offices is a vital part of the CWOL experience.  Those who would use their knowledge of certain areas of the game must keep that knowledge in that area, not crossing into others.  This applies to party activities as well.  We at the United Republic Party are members as CITIZENS of the several states, not as Governors, Cabinet Members, Generals, or any other office we may hold, as appointed.  Congress, being elected, creates a different level, where party role-play must be done within the bounds of expedience and good-reason.  The United Republic Party will endeavor to advance our mutual well-being, prosperity and success throughout the current turmoil and beyond.  The Constitution of the United States stands and shall stand inviolate.  The rules which bind us, by good honour, also shall stand inviolate.  Please read our platform, below, carefully and with great deliberation.

It is the belief of the United Republic Party that the Constitution of the United States, as amended, does not contain any provision for the separation or secession of states.  As such, any such separation is illegal under the Constitution.

As there is currently a crisis within the nation involving the dissolution of the nation in violation to the Constitution, a suitable compromise under the Constitution must be found or we, as a nation, shall have to pick up arms and defend the Constitution.  It is the party's position that a peaceful separation weakens our Constitution, and thus will endanger the common welfare of all of America.

While recognizing the innate need to keep the public informed of the actions taken by the government, the republican nature of our government requires certain forms of information be kept from the grasps of unfriendly groups.  Thus, plans of a military nature and other information vital to the security of the nation should be secured and be kept from the public, as indiscretion could and would jeopardize the lives and homes of United States citizens.

Citizens of the United States have a right to participate in their government and the protection of the nation, regardless of age or experience.  It is the obligation of those who are most experienced and successful to train and instruct, to pass on experiences to those who have less, as "learning by fire" is a dangerous and inefficient method of gaining knowledge and can expose the nation to unnecessary risk and harm.

It is the United Republic Party's belief that no individual or organization of individuals should hold a monopoly on leadership positions.  It is through diverse contributions of ideas that the country will gain strength, increasing the nation's chance of victory.

Slavery is recognized as an uncivilized form of existence throughout the civilized world, and it is our belief that this abhorred practice should be eliminated in order to extend to those in bondage the same rights and equality which our Founding Fathers expressed in the Declaration of Independence and which are rightfully theirs under the Constitution, as citizens of the United States!

It is our position that no person shall be punished for their thoughts or beliefs, nor for the expression of those thoughts or beliefs in the proper forum.

Congress should be run efficiently and in a well-paced manner, as its effectiveness and productivity strongly affects the prosecution of the struggle to unite our fractured country.  Thus, the leadership should listen to the Administration and hold debates and hearings as needed, moving as quickly as possible to votes.  To maintain efficiency and speed, committees, when needed, should remain small and nimble.

We believe that individual state economies are very important.  However, private interests should not preclude the building of military strength that is necessary to unite the country.  The economy and the budget of the United States should be well endowed, by funds from the states if needed, so as to create economic prosperity and security for all.

State governors should provide the Federal Government powers necessary to be successful in the present struggle, while maintaining the rights and privileges of their states.  A Council of Governors should be formed to provide information and better coordinate all governors regarding the military and economic efforts, in addition to allow effective dialogue between the Federal Government and the states.

We support the right of State Governors to appoint commanders for all volunteer troops from their state, while requesting all Governors to use the powers that they have been provided responsibly by appointing able officers whilst removing those who fail to accomplish their duties.

In summation, the United Republic Party believes that the United States Government, in time of war or insurrection, has been given specific powers under the Constitution.  All states should cooperate with the Federal Government and each other to facilitate the quick end of the war with the least losses.
