Here's a good question posed by Lt.Gen. Tom Griffin USA (ret.):

"Now let's see here if I understand all this correctly. President Clinton has ordered our forces to engage an entrenched, politically motivated enemy, backed by the Russians, on their home ground, in a foreign civil war, in difficult terrain, with limited military objectives, bombing restrictions, boundary and operational restrictions, queasy allies, far across the ocean, with uncertain goals, without Congress, potential for escalation, while limiting the forces at his disposal, and the majority of Americans opposed to or at least uncertain about the value of the action being worth American lives.

So just what was it that he was opposed to in Vietnam?"

Mo' Money, Mo' Money, Mo' Money!!

"You've got to have a combination of taking it out of the defense budget and raising revenue" Minority leader Dick Gephard on if he became Majority leader, how he would fund his significant increase in federal education spending (6/2/99).

Never met a tax increase you didn't like, did you Gephardt! Also note his spin of calling raising taxes "raising revenue". And to reduce the defense budget at a time when there are more deployments of US forces around the world in the history of the US is appalling!!

Arrogance and Hypocricy, Defined

"People who think like us may be in the minority, but we're the smart ones." Ted Turner, founder of CNN and father of five, promoting a one-child policy of population control.

Too bad you didn't lead by example!

Hillary vs Reality!

"The problem back then, you'll remember, is that documents were destroyed, tapes were missing. The White House was not cooperating. I think the contrast is so dramatic!" Hillary Clinton, during an NPR interview in which she compared Whitewater to Watergate.

Oh Really?!!

Gore the Creator!

"During my service in the United States Congress, I took the initiative in creating the Internet." Al Gore, as reported in Wired Magazine, when discussing with Wolf Blitzer about what he offers that is different from other Democratic challengers.

Huh?!! Gore, the father of the internet?! This guy is starting to sound like his boss in how he creates his own truth as he goes along. The facts are that preliminary discussions of how the ARPANET (internet) would be designed began in 1967, and a request for proposals went out the following year. In 1969, the Defense Department commissioned the ARPANET, and Gore was only 21 years old at the time and was still in law school at Vanderbilt University!! Eight years later Gore would be elected to the US House of Representatives as a freshman Democrat, and by that time the use of the internet by the military was well underway. Are the Clinton lying tendencies contagious?

Practice Makes Perfect

"She gave good deposition." Columnist at U.S. News and World Report describing Monica's performance in providing information to the special prosecutor.

Let's not go there!

Uncle Bill Knows Best!!

"We could give it all back to you and hope you spend it right." President Clinton, to supporters in Buffalo, N.Y., expressing his belief that the government is in a better position than the public to decide how to spend the budget surplus.

Doesn't this just epitomise the left's philosophy on government? Can you believe their arrogance and condescension? They really think that it is in your best interest to hand over most of your money to them and let them make the decisions as to how it is spent! Yet over the years, they have proven time and time again that they very worst thing we can do is give our money to the government to be appropriately distributed. What invariably happens is that the government gathers up the money that they take from the taxpayers, then they skim a fat chunk of it off the top for the beurocracy and "administration", and then re-distribute the remainder to whoever/whatever they deem appropriate at the time - which is likely not where you personally would have allocated the money if you had the chance to do it yourself. Not only that, but if you listen to the way the left makes statements like this, they actually believe that it's their money and not yours!!

Chief Willy!

"My grand-mother was one-quarter Cherokee." President Clinton, claiming that he is part Cherokee after being criticized for his race initiative by an Indian organization. Cherokee Heritage Center genealogist Tom Mooney notes that the roots of the Cherokee tribe are in Oklahoma, Texas and North Carolina, so anyone with Arkansas roots are very unlikely to be related. In addition, a check of the official Cherokee roles did not match up with the President's ancestors.

How can any of us be surprised about another Presidential lie?! I'm left to wonder if he makes this stuff up as he goes along, or if he really convinces himself that his lies are true! So help me folks, when he talks about the end of big government or about saving Social Security, why am I supposed to believe him?

Warrior Princess

"Madeline Albright. She's a tough chick, cruising around the world as a force for good, presumably." Lucy Lawless, the star of Xena, the warrior princess.

Xena, presumably is right! And please don't get too close to the dark side, come back to the side of integrity, truth, duty, honor, and country... the Conservatives!

Pistol Whipping!

"What do you want me to do with our donors, take them out and pistol-whip them?" Terrence McAuliffe, chief fund-riser for President Clinton, to critics of the special treatment the White House and Democratic Party give to financial contributors.

No Terrence, we just want you to refrain from giving them classified high-level strategic missle technology!!

Trading Places

Statement made by Congressman Dick Armey of Texas, who when asked if he were in the President's place, would he resign, responded:

"If I were in the President's place I would not get a chance to resign. I would be lying in a pool of my own blood hearing Mrs. Armey standing over me saying, 'How do I reload this damn thing?'"

Mayberry Politics

State Sen. Bob Shaw, R-Guilford, North Carolina, in response to reports that Andy Griffith was stumping for Democrats in his district:

"If it were me, I'd say Sheriff Andy Taylor was a conservative Republican and would vote for me," Shaw said. "So would Aunt Bea and Barney. Even little Opie was a Republican. There were no liberal Democrats in Mayberry - everybody would vote Republican except Otis."

Standards of Conduct

In 1974 a young female attorney help draw up the rules under which Richard M. Nixon would be tried by the Congress for impeachment.

"Impeachment," she wrote, "did not have to be for criminal offenses - but only for a 'course of conduct' that suggested an abuse of power or a disregard for the office of the President of the United States."

She wrote, "that a person's 'course of conduct' while not particularly criminal could be of such a nature that it destroys trust, discourages allegiance, and demands action by the Congress."

She wrote that "the office of the President is such that it calls for a higher level of conduct than the average citizen in the United States."

This young female attorney who helped write the standard under which Presidents are to be judged by the House of Representatives has a unique perspective about the present situation in the White House.

You see, that female attorney who said that an unethical "course of conduct" could overthrow a president is now the First Lady, Hillary Rodham Clinton.

Honesty in Government

We can afford to differ on the currency, the tariff, and foreign policy; but we cannot afford to differ on the question of honesty if we expect our republic permanently to endure. Honesty is an absolute prerequisite to efficient service to the public. Unless a man is honest we have no right to keep him in public life, it matters not how brilliant his capacity. Without honesty the brave and able man is merely a civic wild beast who should be hunted down by every lover of righteousness. No man who is corrupt, no man who condones corruption in others, can possibly do his duty by the community. If a man lies under oath or procures the lie of another under oath, if he purjures himself or suborns perjury, he is guilty.

Theodore Roosevelt, one of Bill Clinton's heros.

Famous Quotes that Come Full Circle!

Just saw a couple of quotes that I think will amaze you. Sometimes life's ironies are just mind-boggling!

Quote #1: "I think the country could be spared a lot of agony...if he'd go on and resign" Bill Clinton, during his failed 1974 congressional campaign, on former President Richard Nixon after admitting he lied about Watergate.

Quote #2: "The other thing we have to do is to take seriously the role in this problem of...older men who prey on underage women...There are consequences to decisions and...one way or the other, people always wind up being held accountable." Bill Clinton, June 13, 1996, in a speech endorsing a national effort against teen pregnancy.

These people never cease to amaze me!! Like they say, what comes around goes around!!
