Kansas has always been home to me. I was born in Manhattan on January 19, 1957. I've also lived in Herington and Emporia before making the move to Wichita in 1989. I've been writing my newspaper column since 1991, and doing the TV show since 1996. We started the newscast in 2000. My first co-anchor was Tracy Crockett, now the morning anchor at KTVO in Kirksville, MO. Lindsay's been my co-anchor since November 2004. I had a radio show on KSRX in ElDorado for six months in 1993 (I still think it's the best work I've ever done). |

In my spare time, I enjoy reading, writing, watching TV (especially news/talk and K-State football) and travel. But as you already know, the main passion in my life is politics. It all started in second grade when my mother took be to the two party headquarters in Manhattan. I started working for Republican candidates in sixth grade, and after Kent State, my eyes opened a little wider and I became a Democrat. The rest, as they say, is history. |

Like most people, my parents were a huge influence on me. My father, Gerald, was an electrician at KSU for 38 years. He died just before I filed for my 1990 campaign for Kansas Secretary of State. My mother, Helen, died in November 2000. I also have a sister, who lives with her husband and one daughter on a farm between Manhattan and Junction City on I-70. I live in southeast Wichita with my dog, Daisy. She's half Doberman, half German Shepard...and all love. |
