Newsletter of the NCTC Republicans
Year I Semester I Volume 1
DATELINE: January, 1996
For the first article EVER of the first publication of the first year of the NCTC Republicans, we felt it necessary to explain what we’re about and why we are here at this prestigious college.
For years, there has been a minimal amount of political activity on campus. Aside from the Voter Awareness projects from our government classes and the "Ann Richards is coming to town" flyers, the students haven’t had much exposure to the world of politics. The students body lacked groups which would encourage involvement in the leadership of our Community, State, and Nation. We as Republicans banded together to ensure that political ivolvement can be encouraged, not just during election times, but also throughout the semester.
Sure, we knew that if we started our group, the Democrats would start one as well. That’s O.K. We welcome the competition. Yes, we wanted to spread the message of modern conservatism, but more importantly, politics has been introduced to the campus, which was our main goal.
Some of our other goals include:
• Providing support for those who feel supressed by the county’s traditionally democrat or don’t care attitudes.
• Setting an example for Moral Responsibility.
• Keeping the student body informed of upcoming elections, and major events.
• Combatting all of the negative "Hype" and lies created to discredit the concerned Republican party. (And by not slinging mud back)
• Showing people that one can be conservative, and have fun at the same time!!!
YOU can help us meet these goals! If you’re interested, and are wanting to learn, or spread, the truth of how our nation can be fixed, please come to our next meeting!
