Aug26-2008--The coalition between Nawaz Sharif and Asif Zardari which had been stiched initially by Benazir Bhutto finally unravelled with Nawaz Sharif and Zardari both unable to control dissenters in their parties ...Obviously there has been reluctance from Nawaz Sharif and Asif Zardari on the judges matter...Nawaz Sharif from the start adopted a controversial adversarial hardline stance giving deadlines and pulling out ministers and trying to force his own view...with no formal coalition and both Nawaz Sharif and Asif Zardari literally outsiders in their party and parliament they could not control inner party feelings....Things that bedeviled teh coalition were Asif Zardaris turning literally into a mohajir while Nawaz Sharif gained sufficient strength in the punjab to know that he would sweep another election...The coalition seemed to have been formed on a one point remove musharaf agenda and ended after that with Nawaz Sharif being adamant/obstructive and Asif Zardari trying to sweet talk him...The government obviously did not feel that they needed Nawaz Sharifs approval in every matter and finally when the PPP announced teh Zardari presidency Nawaz Sharif teh popular politician could not take it anymore as nobody nominated him for the job......Since teh coalition was already running on a minority basis things will not change as the PPP's power bases think differently with teh sindhis in control and the punjab a reluctant almost subjugated disciple...The PPP will fall into the same trap with the mqm and ultimately a new election within teh year is almost certain...Asif Zardari like Benazir before him will turn the punjab away from voting for them and becoming literally subordinate to the mqm will only be seen negatively in the punjab...asif zardari was more accomodative of teh mqm than he was of teh PMLn...thinking that is based on anti punjab sentiments in both the mqm and the sindh PPP
Aug26-2008--The coalitions will change as the PMLq which had initially started out as closer to teh PPP now willing to join teh PMLn as teh chaudhries faultering power vanishes...The PMLn was reluctant to be seen as needing teh PMlq and that too has dissipated despite their attempts at forward block politics in the punjab...The new coalitions lines will probably be PPP-MQM-ANP-JUI-Fata at the center with fata and the mqm wanting probably more than two ministries seach...In the punjab where teh PMLn is in a minority a coalition with the PMLq is considered obvious for teh PMLn now...Nawaz Sharif still follows only one part of teh coalition with which he has not yet disassociated that he will not destablize the PPP at the center...the PPP has not said anything about the punjab...given teh situation things are now almost back to normal with the PPP and PMLn both thinking seperately

Aug4-2008--musharaf who himself attacks everyone and every institution suggests that attacks on ISI meant to undermine army... an organisation which works without direction/oversight of government or parliament and does not allow itself tobe critisized or investigated will inevitably go to teh dogs...the main function of teh iSI initially was to keep a watch on all army functions however teh ISI encouraged army renegadism rather than control rebellions, spies and coups...musharaf himself removed numerous ISI officials who became too religious or sided with extremist religious organizations on a personal belief basis...renegades in organizations like the iSI have tobe removed for efficient functioning...overseas actions and counter terrorism measures also seem to be a part of a basic intelligence organisation which the military destroyed and turned into a police and people/politicians subjugation/investigation organisation...organisations should work within their frameworks and the government should create an MI6 and divest teh iSI of civilian functions...however teh ISI should not lose sight of government objectives and their should be a complete oversight and control mechanism for the ISI...reports and government attitudes suggest that the army/FC/ISI have been behind the arming of many militant groups which they have than tried to use to control the populace by destruction by suggesting that development work was carried out but destroyed by militants or terrorists ..the press and military should treat the taleban type organisations as rebellious and anti pakistan and not soft soap their negative behaviours...the military too when tasked should deal with them with a firm serious hand and not as if dealing wih former friends or recalcitrant children...obviously dealing with terrorism or counter terrorism is only one aspect of current ISI duties and cannot become its sole function

Aug2-2008--while yusuf raza was said tobe flabbergasted in the US at US accusations against ISI involvement against US plans in the Fata and afghanistan and indian accusations that the iSI was involved in teh blasts at the indian consulate in kabul...the reports had been there even before teh US visit and teh pakistanis visited the jalaluddin haqqani seminary which was found tobe empty...In the uS there were accusations of recorded phone calls of ISI officials...back home the reports were said tobe rubbish and teh PPP took pains to reject the insinuations...however in colombo yusuf raza again fell afoul of manmohans viles and said that the accusations would investigated by independent sources...yusuf raza apparently lacking a trusted aide behaves differently outside the country and inside...the manmohan accusations erupted after his position in the indian government became doubtful and he was accused of buying loyalties of opposition mna's..whenever the indian government faulters pakistans ISI is usually blamed...in pakistan many whispered that the indian foreign secretary was behind many terrorist incidents in pakistans karachi...the LOC firings happened when the indians moved a defence position into supposed pakistan territory and initially they started firing across the LOC after the kabul incident...They thought that since pakistan accepted teh afghans moving a checpost forward they would similary accept a fait accompli on the LOC...
