Oct29-2008--Ali ahmed Kurd defeated the government candidate Mohammed Zafar for the SCBA leadership...The lawyers seem to have teh convoluted idea that they represent teh people which is not the case...judicial independence is not synonymous with one personality but the rule of the law and teh correct interpretation of teh constitution...Justice iftikhar while he was associated with causes such as finding lost people was involved in totally wrong decisions on coups and coup plotters..he also shied away from giving even one judgement against musharaf...it is also quite clear that unless the judiciary also follows the law and constitution instead of wild decisions such as giving a coup plotter three years to rule and allowing dual appinted constitutional positions without any logic or reason...obviously the government too cannot do many things on just whimsical attitudes and former judges will have to cooperate in the resolution of the issues or the national assembly can by a majority/two-third vote appoint teh judges back to their former positions...otherwise the only solution is to make them senators as suggested by asif zardari...or forget about them as relics of the martial dictatorship and move on...

Oct5-2008--As punjab raised wheat prices to Rs420 per 20 kg prices in other areas worsened...the government policy on wheat prices is myopic and does not consider the problem it causes to people...the government, wheat growers and tandoor walas all are after minting money...the problem has escalated over the year with the governments almost 400% escalation in prices...with the agricultural communities lust for easy money things will only worsen with the next crop...the government is just wasting money on the tax free agricultural community which includes wheat growers, middlemen and the wholesale system...

Oct4-2008--In what can be said tobe open mockery of the reaction less or powerless government in pakistan the americans continued their predator overflights and made repeated attempts at helicopter crossovers into pakistan territory...two missile attacks are said to have taken place on the 30th and 3 of this month...yesterdays missile attack denied by the pakistan military though reported by foreign agencies targeted a house in north waziristan killing upto twenty-five with supposedly many foreigners...on tuesday the 30th missiles were fired in khushali torikhel killing nine...The pakistani regime usually hides behind reports that foreigners are being killed..pakistans puppet primeminister also decried the dangerous statements of the two vicepresidential candidates in a US election debate as being little more than politics despite both stating their future government policy...Palin came out as being a harsh anti iranite while biden literally trashed pakistan...
Oct4-2008--Most PMlq members willing to join the PPP coalition at the center after being told by the PMLn that they would only be junior members if they joined teh PMLn...The MQM also has finalized two members to join the federal government...the "mein kiyun kuch karun" home affairs manager in sindh waseem akhter and the television jockey khushbakht shujaat...after the ANP and MQM both wanted serious ministries of their choice as the zardari group felt unduly beholden to the teh altaf hussein group the PPP delayed the issue of new ministers despite teh few federal ministers being shown tobe incapable of handling multiple ministries...

Oct4-2008--Changing the NFC award should require a constitutional amendment as i think distribution on the population basis is in teh constitution...all provinces have their own preferences on how it should be...with sindh even wanting to take away sales tax paid by teh consumers in each province...while apparently if everything is tallied sindh seems to get much more than its share in population and punjab seems tobe slowly being pushed on its population based huge share...obviously a larger population entails having to develop many more cities and villages than a smaller population province..however political clout gives major areas such as karachi, islamabad and these days multan much greater leverage and funds..balochistan would have to however spend much more on basic infrastructure such as roads...the NFC in effect does little as it does not tricke money or anything to the poor...balochistan could be compensated in jobs in which nwfp has a much larger undue share...while many donot regard nwfp and sindh tobe underdeveloped teh government should take into consideration its neglect of interior sindh viz karachi...the two smaller provinces could be compensated by giving them an extra say forty billion every year for five years as teh NFC does little to enhance development in the punjab or improve teh lives of its citizens
