FORM A UNITED FRONT AGAINST ALL DEMOCRATS - this is not a question of the
lesser of two evils - what they are working for is evil - there must be a new
cold war to defeat this new version of totalitarian collectivism. it is no
coincidence -- terrorists have escalated things in Afghanistan and Iraq to try
to get Obama and Democrats elected -- curiously, those who support fascism in
America also oppose the liberation of Iraq from Sadaam's fascism. Don't blame
me, Obama is the one talking about typical white people - the only thing typical
is the racism of the Democrat Party. He also said babies are punishment. The Big
Lie, whether used by Joseph Goebbels, Michael Moore, or Al Gore is the major
tactic of the left in promoting their national socialism. It is no accident that
Hugo Chavez, Obama, Mrs Bill Clinton and their ilk all love Saul Alinsky and
Noam Chomsky, Karl Marx, and the like. You ignore history only at your and
our peril
1. The Liberal Threat -
an obama (or clinton) presidency would mean
a catastrophe for America (nor is it merely
them - it is reid, pelosi, and the entire bund):
* obama may not be a muslim but he will capitulate to
the terrorists, who are not truly muslims
either (they are socialists of a
variant stripe and truly islamofascists in the tradition of the so-called
muslim brotherhood) - he wants to return to
the failed approach of the clinton and carter years that led to the terrorist
threat

Obama worked with terroristSenator helped fund organization that rejects 'racist' Israel's

JERUSALEM – The board of a nonprofit organization on which Sen. Barack Obama served as
a paid director alongside a confessed domestic terrorist granted funding to a
controversial Arab group that mourns the establishment of Israel as a
"catastrophe" .....
The co-founder of the Arab group in question, Columbia University
professor Rashid Khalidi, also has held a fundraiser for Obama. Khalidi is a
harsh critic of Israel, has made statements supportive of Palestinian terror and
reportedly has worked on behalf of the Palestine Liberation Organization while
it was involved in anti-Western terrorism and was labeled by the State
Department as a terror group. In 2001, the Woods Fund, a Chicago-based nonprofit
that describes itself as a group helping the disadvantaged, provided a $40,000
grant to the Arab American Action Network, or AAAN, for which Khalidi's wife,
Mona, serves as president. The Fund provided a second grant to the AAAN for
$35,000 in 2002. Obama
was a director of the Woods Fund board from 1999 to Dec. 11, 2002, according to
the Fund's website. According to tax filings, Obama received compensation
of $6,000 per year for his service in 1999 and 2000.
Obama served
on the Wood's Fund board alongside William C. Ayers, a member of the Weathermen
terrorist group which sought to overthrow of the U.S. government and took
responsibility for bombing the U.S. Capitol in 1971. Ayers, who
still serves on the Woods Fund board, contributed $200 to Obama's senatorial
campaign fund and has served on panels with Obama at numerous public speaking
engagements. Ayers admitted to involvement in the bombings of U.S. governmental
buildings in the 1970s. He is a professor at the University of Illinois at
Chicago.
The $40,000 grant from Obama's Woods Fund to the AAAN
constituted about a fifth of the Arab group's reported grants for 2001,
according to tax filings obtained by WND. The $35,000 Woods Fund grant in
2002 also constituted about one-fifth of AAAN's reported grants for that
year.
The AAAN, headquartered in the heart of Chicago's Palestinian
immigrant community, describes itself as working to
"empower Chicago-area Arab immigrants and Arab Americans through the combined
strategies of community organizing, advocacy, education and social services,
leadership development, and forging productive relationships with other
communities."
It reportedly has worked on projects with the
Illinois Coalition for Immigrant and Refugee Rights, which supports open
boarders and education for illegal aliens. The AAAN in 2005 sent a letter
to New Mexico Gov. Bill Richardson in which it called a billboard opposing a
North Carolina-New Mexico joint initiative to deny driver's licenses to illegal
aliens a "bigoted attack on Arabs and Muslims." Speakers at AAAN dinners
and events routinely have taken an anti-Israel line.
The group
co-sponsored a Palestinian art exhibit, titled, "The Subject of Palestine," that
featured works related to what some Palestinians call the "Nakba" or
"catastrophe" of Israel's founding in 1948. According to the widely discredited
Nakba narrative, Jews in 1948 forcibly expelled hundreds of thousands - some
Palestinians claim over one million - Arabs from their homes and then took over
the territory. Historically, about 600,000 Arabs fled Israel after
surrounding Arab countries warned they would destroy the Jewish state in 1948.
Some Arabs also were driven out by Jewish forces while they were trying to push
back invading Arab armies.
At the same time, over 800,000 Jews were expelled or left Arab countries under
threat after Israel was founded.
The theme of AAAN's Nakba art exhibit,
held at DePaul University in 2005, was "the compelling and continuing tragedy of
Palestinian life ... under [Israeli] occupation ... home demolition ...
statelessness ... bereavement ... martyrdom, and ... the heroic struggle for
life, for safety, and for freedom."
Another AAAN initiative,
titled, "Al Nakba 1948 as experienced by Chicago Palestinians," seeks documents
related to the "catastrophe" of Israel's founding. A post on the AAAN site
asked users: "Do you have photos, letters or other memories you could share
about Al-Nakba-1948?" That posting was recently removed. The AAAN website
currently states the entire site is under
construction.
Pro-PLO advocate held Obama fundraiser,
describes Obama as 'sympathetic'
AAAN co-founder Rashid
Khalidi was reportedly a director of the official PLO press agency WAFA in
Beirut from 1976 to 1982, while the PLO committed scores of anti-Western attacks
and was labeled by the U.S. as a terror group. Khalidi's wife, AAAN President
Mona Khalidi, was reportedly WAFA's English translator during that
period.
Rashid Khalidi at times has denied working directly for the
PLO but Palestinian diplomatic sources in Ramallah told WND he indeed directed
WAFA. Khalidi also advised the Palestinian delegation to the Madrid Conference
in 1991.
During documented speeches and public events, Khalidi has
called Israel an "apartheid system in creation" and a destructive "racist"
state. He has multiple times expressed support for Palestinian terror,
calling suicide bombings response to "Israeli aggression." He dedicated his 1986
book, "Under Siege," to "those who gave their lives ... in defense of the cause
of Palestine and independence of Lebanon." Critics assailed the book as excusing
Palestinian terrorism. While the Woods Fund's contribution to Khalidi's AAAN
might be perceived as a one-time run in with Obama, the presidential hopeful and Khalidi evidence a deeper
relationship.
According to a professor at the University of Chicago
who said he has known Obama for 12 years, the Democratic presidential hopeful
first befriended Khalidi when the two worked together at the university. The
professor spoke on condition of anonymity. Khalidi lectured at the University of
Chicago until 2003 while Obama taught law there from 1993 until his election to
the Senate
in 2004.
Khalidi in 2000 held what was described as a successful
fundraiser for Obama's failed bid for a seat in the U.S. House of
Representatives, a fact not denied by Khalidi. Speaking in a joint interview
with WND and the John Batchelor Show of New York's WABC Radio and Los Angeles'
KFI Radio, Khalidi was asked about his 2000 fundraiser for Obama. "I was just
doing my duties as a Chicago resident to help my local politician," Khalidi
stated. Khalidi said he supports Obama for president "because he is the only
candidate who has expressed sympathy for the Palestinian cause." Khalidi also
lauded Obama for "saying he supports talks with Iran. If the U.S. can talk with
the Soviet Union during the Cold War, there is no reason it can't talk with the
Iranians."
Asked about Obama's role funding the AAAN, Khalidi claimed
he had "never heard of the Woods Fund until it popped up on a bunch of blogs a
few months ago." He terminated the call when petitioned further about
his links with Obama. Contacted by phone, Mona Khalidi refused to answer
WND's questions about the AAAN's involvement with Obama. Obama's campaign
headquarters did not reply to a list of WND questions sent by e-mail to the
senator's press office.
Obama, American terrorist in same
circles
Obama served on the board with Ayers, who was a
Weathermen leader and has written about his involvement with the group's
bombings of the New York City Police headquarters in 1970, the Capitol in 1971
and the Pentagon in 1972.
"I don't regret setting bombs. I feel we
didn't do enough," Ayers told the New York Times in an interview released on
Sept. 11, 2001. "Everything was absolutely ideal on the day I bombed the
Pentagon," Ayers wrote in his memoirs, titled "Fugitive Days." He continued with
a disclaimer that he didn't personally set the bombs, but his group set the
explosives and planned the attack.
A $200 campaign contribution is
listed on April 2, 2001 by the "Friends of Barack Obama" campaign fund. The two
taught appeared speaking together at several public events, including a 1997
University of Chicago panel entitled, "Should a child ever be called a 'super
predator?'" and another panel for the University of Illinois in April 2002,
entitled, "Intellectuals: Who Needs Them?"
The charges against
Ayers were dropped in 1974 because of prosecutorial misconduct, including
illegal surveillance. Ayers is married to another notorious Weathermen
terrorist, Bernadine Dohrn, who has also served on panels with Obama. Dohrn was
once on the FBI's Top 10 Most Wanted List and was described by J. Edgar Hoover
as the "most dangerous woman in America." Ayers and Dohrn raised the son of
Weathermen terrorist Kathy Boudin, who was serving a sentence for participating
in a 1981 murder and robbery that left 4 people dead.
Obama
advisor wants talks with terrorists
The revelations about
Obama's relationship with Khalidi follows a recent WND article quoting Israeli security officials
who expressed "concern" about Robert Malley, an adviser to Obama who has
advocated negotiations with Hamas and providing international assistance to the
terrorist group.
Malley, a principal Obama foreign policy adviser,
has penned numerous opinion articles, many of them co-written with a former
adviser to the late Palestinian Authority President Yasser Arafat, petitioning
for dialogue with Hamas and blasting Israel for numerous policies he says harm
the Palestinian cause.
Malley also previously penned a well-circulated New York Review of
Books piece largely blaming Israel for the collapse of the Israeli-Palestinian
negotiations at Camp David in 2000 when Arafat turned down a Palestinian state
in the West Bank, Gaza and eastern sections of Jerusalem and instead returned to
the Middle East to launch an intifada, or terrorist campaign, against the Jewish
state.
Malley's contentions have been strongly refuted by key
participants at Camp David, including President Bill Clinton,
then-Israeli Prime Minister Ehud Barak and primary U.S. envoy to the Middle East
Dennis Ross, all of whom squarely blamed Arafat's refusal to make peace for the
talks' failure.
And listen to Obama's raving 'former' Pastor Jeremiah Wright echo the
racist sentiments Obama himself makes in his biographical book:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8M-kD0QdRJk
* dismantling of our military - the change he wants
will take us back to the 1970's and Jimmy Carter
* thirty million abortions since 1973 is just the tip
of the iceberg as the government starts to promote and pay for them again,
including late term partial birth abortions (but of course for those who want to
protect women's right to choose -- a 'right' that has been manufactured by
activist judges out of thin air -- the unborn child has no rights). if they
wanted to legalize infanticide, they should have done it by legislation in the
states, but that was not possible so their star chamber handed it down from
above.
Since most government paid abortions were of black
babies, Obama supports government murder of millions of black babies. No
surprise from a party with Al Gore in it who says there are too many people in
the Third World (black people, yellow people, and brown people) - according to
Al Gore, there are too many colored people in the world.
* destroy the American health care system by having
government take over
socialized medicine will mean the government telling
you what medical care you receive
* increasing taxes on corporate America will mean less
profit, less investment, and less economic development
* repealing Bush's 'tax cuts for the rich' will
further dampen our economic progress
* the democrat rhetorical 'pinch' the middle
class is in is in reality the best standard of living in the
history of the world but obama's tax policies will ruin
it
* both Obama and Mrs. Clinton support a tax on
Americans to give $185 billion to the United Nations every
year
* his tax increases would include an additional $2000
each year on those 'rich' Americans who make $50000
annually
* the swindle of global warming is just a ruse of the
democrats to promote more socialist control over your
life
* someone ask barack, or his cohorts, how refusing to
drill for oil in the u.s. or allowing refineries to be
built
is going to lower gas prices or make us less dependent
on foreign oil - it is their folly that has driven prices to where
they are by blocking drilling and there has not been a new refinery built since
Carter was president
* removing the cap on social security will destroy
investment and wreck the american economy - imagine the impact on investment if
the government began to confiscate 14% of all income over $103000, but that is
Obama's and Clinton's
plan.
*our society will continue to have the 'change' of
unelected left wing judges making law from the bench
to promote socialism and destroy our norms
and mores because they cannot get their policies enacted
into law over the objections of the
voters
* one of the first orders of business of the
socialists is confiscation of weapons from the citizenry. That point needs no
elaboration.
* do not be fooled - what the democrats want is
national socialism as part of an international socialist world regime -
that is not my opinion - it is what they say.
2. Obama and Hillary are the Washington
establishment:
Barack Obama has cast more than 1,100 votes since
entering the U.S. Senate in January 2005, and those votes indicate the likely
position he would take on several issues as president. He says he does not
accept 'special interest' money, but he has been hiring agents of those
interests to work in his campaign. In each
of his three years in the Senate, Obama has voted with the majority of Democrats
at least 96 percent of the time. He has the most liberal voting record in the
Senate. He has been, along with Senator Clinton, among the biggest of those
availing themselves of the corruption of earmarks. Read of his affinity for Marxism in his first autobiography. And, he has
not renounced such sentiments. He stopped wearing an American flag lapel pin.
In addition to ties of his church and
pastor to the anti-semitic Farakahn, Obama 'military' advisor Tony McPeak has
been suggesting that American 'Jewry' and Israel dictate U.S. foreign policy.
Here is where he has stood on key measures
in the Senate, according to MSNBC:
*Obama voted against the confirmation of John Roberts
for the Supreme Court, saying he “far more often used his formidable skills on
behalf of the strong in opposition to the weak.”
*He also cast a vote against Samuel Alito and even
voted in favor of a filibuster to stall his confirmation.
*Last October Obama voted for an act that would have
allowed illegal immigrants who become permanent legal residents to qualify for
lower in-state tuition rates at state universities. That measure was opposed by
Democrats in a number of swing states that could be pivotal in this year’s
election, MSNBC observed.
*The Illinois Senator voted against a 2006 bill to
prohibit the transportation of a minor girl across state lines to get an
abortion if this would circumvent parental consent.
*Obama voted against a bill extending the cuts in
capital gains and dividends tax rates that Congress enacted in 2003, and against
the repeal of the tax on inherited wealth, the estate tax.
*In June 2006, Obama voted against a bill that would
have required President Bush to withdraw most U.S. troops from Iraq by July 1,
2007. But this past September, he joined 27 other Democrats in voting for a bill
ordering Bush to begin withdrawing most American forces within 90 days. The bill
failed to pass.
"Hillary Clinton has been telling America that she is the most
qualified
candidate for president based on her "record," which she
says includes: her
eight years in the White House as First Lady - or "co-president"-
and her
seven years in the Senate. Here is a reminder of what that
record includes:
- As First Lady, Hillary assumed authority over Health Care Reform,
a
process that cost the taxpayers over $13 million. She told both
Bill
Bradley and Pat Moynahan, key votes needed to pass her
legislation,
that she would "demonize "anyone who opposed it. But it was
opposed;
she couldn't even get it to a vote in a Congress controlled by
her
own party. (And in the next election, her party lost control of
both
the House and Senate.)
- Hillary assumed authority over
selecting a female Attorney General.
Her first two recommendations (Zoe Baird
and Kimba Wood) were forced
to withdraw their names from consideration, and
then she chose Janet
Reno. Janet Reno has since been described by Bill
himself as "my worst mistake."
- Hillary recommended Lani Guanier for
head of the Civil Rights
Commission. When Guanier's radical views became
known, her name had to be withdrawn.
- Hillary recommended her former
law partners, Web Hubbell, Vince
Foster, and William Kennedy for positions in
the Justice Department,
White House staff, and the Treasury, respectively.
Hubbell was later
imprisoned, Foster committed suicide, and Kennedy was
forced to
resign.
- Hillary also recommended a close friend of the
Clintons, Craig Livingstone, for the position of director of White House
security. When Livingstone was investigated for the improper access of up
to
900 FBI files of Clinton enemies (Filegate) and the widespread use ofdrugs
by White House staff, both Hillary and her husband denied knowing him.
(FBI
agent Dennis Sculimbrene Confirmed in a Senate Judiciary Committee in 1996 both
the drug use and Hillary's involvement inhiring Livingstone. After that, the FBI
closed its White House Liaison Office, after serving seven presidents for over
thirty years.)
- In order to open "slots" in the White House for her
friends the Harry Thomasons (to whom millions of dollars in travel contracts
could be awarded), Hillary had the entire staff of the White House Travel Office
fired; they were reported to the FBI for "gross mismanagement" and their
reputations ruined. After a thirty-month
investigation, only one, Billy Dale,
was charged with a crime - mixing personal money with White House funds when he
cashed checks. The jury acquitted him in less than two hours.
- Another
of Hillary's assumed duties was directing the "bimbo eruption squad" and scandal
defense:
---- She urged her husband not to settle the Paula Jones
lawsuit.
---- She refused to release the Whitewater documents, which led to
the appointment of Ken Starr as Special Prosecutor. After $80 million dollars of
taxpayer money was spent, Starr's investigation led to
Monica Lewinsky, which
led to Bill lying about and later admittinghis affairs.
---- Then they had
to settle with Paula Jones after all.
---- And Bill lost his law license for
lying to the grand jury.
---- And Bill was impeached by the House.
----
And Hillary almost got herself indicted for perjury and obstruction of justice
(she avoided it mostly because she repeated,"I do not recall," "I have no
recollection," and "I don't know" 56 times under oath).
- Hillary accepted
the traditional First Lady's role of decorator of the White House at Christmas,
but in a unique Hillary way. In 1994,for example, The First Lady's Tree in the
Blue Room (the focal point
each year) was Decorated with drug paraphernalia,
sex toys, andpornographic ornaments, all personally approved by Hillary as the
invited artists' depictions of the theme, "The Twelve Days ofChristmas."
- Hillary wrote "It Takes a Village," demonstrating her Socialist and
feminist viewpoint.
- Hillary decided to seek election to the Senate in
a state she had never lived in. Her husband pardoned FALN terrorists in order to
get Latino support and the New Square Hassidim to get Jewish support. Hillary
also had Bill pardon her brother's clients, for a small fee, to get financial
support.
- Then Hillary left the White House, but later had to return
$200,000 in White House furniture, china, and artwork she had stolen.
- In
the campaign for the Senate, Hillary played the "woman card" by portraying her
opponent (Lazio) as a bully picking on her.
- Hillary's husband further
protected her by asking the National Archives to withhold from the public until
2012 many records of their time in the White House, including much of Hillary's
correspondence
and her calendars. (There are ongoing lawsuits to force the
release of those records.)
- As the junior Senator from New York,
Hillary has passed no major legislation. She has deferred to the senior Senator
(Schumer) to tend to the needs of New Yorkers, even on the hot issue of medical
problems
of workers involved in the cleanup of Ground Zero after 9/11.
- Hillary's one notable vote, supporting the plan to invade Iraq, she
has since flip, flopped and disavowed."
- perhaps even more critical, Bill Clinton gave away nuclear and missle
secret technology to the Peoples' Republic of China - apparently in exchange for
illegal campaign contibutions (but the corruption of the Clinton
years is too extensive to begin to catalogue here - from huge tax increases
to selling out our national security)
Hillary simply cannot tell the
truth. Here's her scorecard:
Chelsea was jogging around the Trade Center on Sept. 11, 2001. (She was in
bed watching it on TV.)
Hillary was named after Sir Edmund Hillary. (She admitted she was wrong.
He climbed Mt. Everest five years after her birth.)
She was under sniper fire in Bosnia. (A girl presented her with flowers
at the foot of the ramp.)
She learned in The Wall Street Journal how to make a killing in the
futures market. (It didn't cover the market back then.)
She didn't know about the FALN pardons.
She didn't know that her brothers were being paid to get pardons that
Clinton granted.
Taking the White House gifts was a clerical error.
She didn't know that her staff would fire the travel office staff after
she told them to do so.
She didn't know that the Peter Paul fundraiser in Hollywood in 2000 cost
$700,000 more than she reported it had.
She opposed NAFTA at the time.
She was instrumental in the Irish peace process.
She urged Bill to intervene in Rwanda.
She played a role in the '90s economic recovery.
The billing records showed up on their own.
She thought Bill was innocent when the Monica scandal broke.
She was always a Yankees fan.
She had nothing to do with the New Square Hasidic pardons (after they
voted for her 1,400-12 and she attended a meeting at the White House about the
pardons).
She negotiated for the release of refugees in Macedonia (who were
released the day before she got there).
3. The Left's Semantic Alteration of the Definition of
Fascism
Fascism is an economic order typified by government
enforced looting of the standard of living through increasingly confiscatory
taxation that erodes the ability of an economy to grow. It takes capital for its
expansion at the expense of consumption and
investment. This has been termed primitive accumulation and
autocannibalization as the drain on capital reduces the ability of an economy to
even maintain existent plant and equipment. Wilson's war socialism was of this
form, financed through creation of the income tax to fund it's
ever growing appetite. The New Deal was fundamentally of this character, as
well, and was identified as such at the time. Such programs as
the NIRA and AAA, among others, were corporatist in nature and modeled on
the programmatic initiatives of Hitler and Mussolini. Another huge surge in this
direction came with LBJ's Great Society. The post WWII decline in poverty
reversed with the War On Poverty. It is unsound policy and
resulted in the double digit unemployment we experienced in the Carter years,
but the left would undo the step back from the precipice Reagan
brought us which has resulted in the most prosperous
thirty years in our history. Clinton's Secretary of Labor Reich
wrote of his corporatist designs. He would not use the 'f' word, but he
identified them clearly in the same terms Mussolini did as corporatism.
from
John T. Flynn, The Roosevelt Myth
(1944)
First, and most important, was the NRA and its dynamic
ringmaster, General Hugh Johnson. As I write, of course, Mussolini is an evil
memory. But in 1933 he was a towering figure who was supposed to have discovered
something worth study and imitation by all world artificers everywhere. Such
eminent persons as Dr. Nicholas Murray Butler and Mr. Sol Bloom, head of the
Foreign Affairs Committee of the House, assured us he was a great man and had
something we might well look into for imitation. What they liked particularly
was his corporative system. He organized each trade or industrial group or
professional group into a state supervised trade association. He called it a
corporative. These corporatives operated under state supervision and could plan
production, quality, prices, distribution, labor standards, etc. The NRA
provided that in America each industry should be organized into a federally
supervised trade association. It was not called a corporative. It was called a
Code Authority. But it was essentially the same thing. These code authorities
could regulate production, quantities, qualities, prices, distribution methods,
etc., under the supervision of the NRA. This was fascism. The antitrust
laws forbade such organizations. Roosevelt had denounced Hoover for not
enforcing these laws sufficiently. Now he suspended them and compelled men to
combine.
At its head Roosevelt appointed
General Hugh Johnson, a retired Army officer. Johnson, a product of the
southwest, was a brilliant, kindly, but explosive and dynamic genius, with a
love for writing and a flair for epigram and invective. He was a rough and
tumble fighter with an amazing arsenal of profane expletives. He was a lawyer as
well as a soldier and had had some business experience with Bernard Baruch. And
he was prepared to produce a plan to recreate the farms or the factories or the
country or the whole world at the drop of a hat. He went to work with superhuman
energy and an almost maniacal zeal to set this new machine going. He summoned
the representatives of all the trades to the capital. They came in droves,
filling hotels and public buildings and speakeasies. Johnson stalked up and down
the corridors of the Commerce Building like a commanderinchief
in the midst of a war.
He began with a blanket code which
every business man was summoned to sign to pay minimum wages and
observe the maximum hours of work, to abolish child labor, abjure price
increases and put people to work. Every instrument of human exhortation opened
fire on business to comply the press, pulpit, radio, movies. Bands
played, men paraded, trucks toured the streets blaring the message through
megaphones. Johnson hatched out an amazing bird called the Blue
Eagle(remarkably similar to
that eagle of European fascist regimes).. Every business concern that signed up
got a Blue Eagle, which was the badge of compliance. The President went on the
air: "In war in the gloom of night attack," he crooned, "soldiers wear a bright
badge to be sure that comrades do not fire on comrades. Those who cooperate in
this program must know each other at a glance. That bright badge is the Blue
Eagle."
4. Fascism - The Final Stage of Socialism
What fascism is not is the xenomanic supernationalism
of the Nazi version. That was perhaps a peculiarity, or the inevitable outcome
of Schactian economics run its course of domestic looting and turning to other
sources to bleed - the 'final stage' of socialism, but the
contemporary manifestation of corporatist national and international socialism
approaches it in many ways. Ultimately, the arc of collectivism is to Malthus.
When you decapitate economic growth and development by government policies
siphoning off profits and underming capital formation, the Malthusian prophecy
will be realized.
Autocannibalization and primitive accumulation leads
to genocide.
This may also be the reason that the naive left
opposes liberation. Their mindset sees it in the same
terms as the inevitable imperialism of socialist looting. They cannot
differentiate between the liberation of human rights, natural law,
representative government, expanded reproduction, and capitalism as opposed
to the dead end of their anti-intellectual prison.
It is also based on awareness of and promotion of
ethnic distinction in policy. It has effectively reeinforced
Jim Crow, even as Wilson segregated the post office and
military. Nor is it necessarily ultra militaristic, except in the sense of the
requisite enforced looting and in suppressing opposition. But we see that, as
well, from Clinton's Excelsior monitoring of America to
California Assembly efforts to ban even a suggestion that
global warming is a theory from the state's classrooms to
the dictatorship of the proletariat which controls our schools and universities
and partisan old media to enforced political correctness and criminalization of
policy differences. It is also clearly anti-semitic. And the supposed
distinction between fascism and socialism, between 'left' and 'right,' is an
uninformed ruse. Anyone who overlooks the red fascism of Stalin or Mao
cannot be taken seriously, anyway.
The truth hurts January 19, 2008
This book Liberal Fascism by Jonah Goldberg raises important
lines of intellectual inquiry that have been ignored or repressed both in
popular culture and academia. I'm sure much of that stems from well earned
embarrassment in the aftermath of World War II
For me, the basic
premises of this book were not entirely new. F.A. Hayek certainly made it clear
in his The Road to Serfdom how Fascist and Nazi ideas grew out of socialism.
Hayek also makes clear in his The Counter Revolution of Science where all of
these ideologies have their roots in the French Revolution. Contrary to the 1
star reviews, this book is on solid historical and intellectual ground.
Nor is the discussion of Woodrow Wilson's WWI wartime dictatorship new
to me. Properly taught U.S. Constitutional History or Constitutional Law classes
certainly cover the Sedition and Espionage Acts. Oliver Wendell Holmes opinion
in the Schenk case caused me to think, one afternoon in 1969. what might have
happened to Jane Fonda had Wilson rather than Johnson or Nixon been President
during the Vietnam War. I think she would have been hanged.
Speaking of
Holmes, don't forget that one of the great scenes in the movie Judgment at
Nuremberg is where the attorney defending the Nazi collaborator quotes from
Holmes's opinion in Buck v. Bell.
Nor is the idea new that the National
Recovery Administration (the other NRA) was a fascist undertaking. The Blue
Eagle lives on at the beginning of movies from the early 1930's. I recall
documentaries on the New Deal with newsreels from the 1930's with marching bands
and showgirl reviews. The Nazi's had a better filmmaker but the idea was the
same.
What accounts for all the foaming at the mouth over this book?
During the 1950's, many academicians had an embarrassing and dangerous paper
trail of bad ideas behind them. By the 1960's, since Mussolini and Hitler had
been humiliatingly defeated, they were past history. Who cares? Castro, Guevara,
Ho, and Mao were all the rage. Political theory classes became all about the
professor's whimsy rather than a discipline.
The result is that many speak
about politics today with no knowledge or understanding of the origins of their
ideas. When so confronted, they become enraged.
To Goldberg's credit, he
does not spare "conservatives" from his irony either. George W., Pat Buchanan
have expressed ideas and programs that are essentially Liberal Fascism as well.
Yesterday, I listened to a Los Angeles AM radio news station that
purports to report business news. The stock market was down 50 points on top of
other declines. The President was declaring a stimulus package. The host was
breathlessly taking phone calls on what people should do with their stocks! What
to do with that mortgage? How do we save our economy? Who is going to help us?
Good grief. It occurred to me that not only does the media believe in
Liberal Fascism but creating a panic boosts ratings and the government action
gives them something "serious" with which to fill up their time. And if people
are panicked into selling good assets at steep discounts, what is their freedom
worth to them?
Update: I had to allow some of the ideas in this book to
percolate and give them some more thought. Jonah Goldberg makes a number of
connections that were new to me. Most accounts I've read of the Progressive
movement were favorable treatments. The Progressives were civic minded citizens
cleaning up the corruption of the political parties and big industries. Most of
these historical accounts are long on the practical reforms and there is no
diminishing the importance of them in changing American politics(direct primary,
initiative, referendum, local nonpartisanship.) But the intellectual influence
on the Progressives of Nietzsche, Hegel, and Comte are not commonly discussed in
these event driven narratives. From Nietzsche comes the idea that God is dead
therefore conventional morality should be thrown out, from Hegel comes
historicism or the idea that history is a march of progress, and from Comte
comes the idea that society is like a giant machine and is suitable for social
engineering. I oversimplify, of course, but all of them lead to the destruction
of individual rights in favor of the power of the state.
I was also not
aware of the influence of William James and his ideas of pragmatism on Georges
Sorel and later on Italian fascism. From James comes the idea of the will to
believe, and when combined with Nietzsche's will to power becomes the basis for
the big lie. This unaccountable naked power combined with an amoral regard for
human rights and liberty along with delusions of inevitability led to much of
the misery of the twentieth century.
I knew of Woodrow Wilson's contempt
for some aspects of our Constitution, but not the extent. The claim of the
modern Democratic Party to be successors to the party of Jefferson is of course
an intellectual fraud but that fraud didn't begin with Franklin Roosevelt. It
began with Wilson. Wilson despised the separation of powers and now appears to
have desired a living evolving constitution rather than one that limited the
powers of government.
Jonah Goldberg has written an important much
needed book.
5. The Big Lie
One of the propaganda techniques of fascism, initiated
by Goebbels, but fine-tuned by contemporary liberal fascism is the Big Lie, If
you tell a lie enough, the bigger the better, a lot of people will believe it.
Watch any of Micheal Moore's movies. A vibrant economy has been for years
propagandized as sluggish and now, with 5% unemployment, as low as it can go, we
are told there is a recession! There may be one but there is not one now. Again,
the left creates its own definitions to fit its agenda. 3 % growth when Clinton
was in the White House was reported as great, but it is now touted as sluggish.
And it has run from Dan Rather's sorry effort to smear Bush with made up
stories, to the regular routine at the New York Times. But, examples and
hypocrisy abound:
6. The Liberation of Afghanistan and
Iraq
There has been no unjust war in Iraq. Indeed, the
liberation of Iraqis came with the delay of a Clinton administration which was
derelict in its duty toward enforcement of the terms of Desert Storm. But then
Clinton was a busy man, what will giving away nuclear secrets to communist
China. It was a pre-emptive effort in the sense that it was done to stop
the Sadaam regime from its long term efforts to sponsor terrorism. Payments to
homicide bombers, protection to Abu Abass, training facilities for al qaeda, and
more only complement the terror with which his tyranny ruled. Terrorists
attacked countries all across the world, but they never attacked
Iraq. Strange coincidence. Not only was the liberation
justified and successful, but Congress supported it. Lieberman was not the only
Democrat to do so (and look what the open minded left has done to him!). Indeed,
the most vociferous opponents of Bush have been those from Clinton to Kerry to
Kennedy who throughout the 1990's argued for overthrow of Sadaam in part because
he had weapons of mass destruction and would use them against us. Clinton even
signed a bill making his overthrow official U.S. policy. Of course, it was the
ineptitude of the Clinton administration policies that did not hold Sadaam's
feet to fire after Desert Storm when he should have been dealth with, and
fiddled around giving nuclear and missile technology to mainland China while
Taliban took over Afghanistan. What the liberation or Iraq and Afghanistan
has been is the most successful military operation in history, in spite of the
liberal effort to sabotage our troops which has led to more of their deaths and
that of thousands in those countries and others. And like Vietnam, the only way it can be lost is if we
are sold out by the Democrats again. After Tet, the Viet Cong were virtually
wiped out, and by their own account, ready to surrender - until the Democrats
and John Kerry came to their rescue. Millions died as a result at the hands of
the communists. They will cause the same thing to happen in Iraq, Afghanistan,
Pakistan, and neighboring countries, if they have their way. But it will also
mean homicide bombers in American shopping malls. Find out first hand about Iraq:
7. Katrina
There has been a constant harping that the people of
New Orleans were left to suffer by an inept and unconcerned federal government,
but as Katrina was approaching the Gulf Coast, President Bush called
the Democrat Governor of Louisiana and asked her to
declare a state of emergency and request federal assistance. She refused.
There are recordings of her doing that. Without that request, and until it came,
which took days, Bush was barred from acting by law. This is particularly the
case more than anywhere else with Louisiana and South Carolina. To be fair, no
one could have known what was going to happen. The devastation of the city came
when the levee broke, and no one but Louis Farakan would have foreseen that. But
the City government had for years been diverting state and federal money that
was to upgrade the levees to parks and recs and other areas to support
their cronyism. When the city was flooded, Mayor Nagen refused to use available
buses to evacuate people and refused to allow supplies that were blocks from the
Super Dome to be given to them. But the image they have tried to create is the
same old worn out one. More government is not the answer. The problem was
government; state and local corruption in
Louisiana.
8. Minimum Wage
Perhaps one of the best ways to cut through the nonsense is to
demonstrate what the impact of the minimum wage laws are. Held to be helpful,
they in fact create more unemployment and poverty
by leading to fewer jobs for the unskilled, part time,
young, and marginal workforce. But it is impossible to argue this point because
Oprah will cry - as she and her friends put poor people out of work. This is so
much the case that anyone who opposes increasing minimum wage is excoriated, but
they are the defenders of the poor. No employer can pay any worker more than
they produce, their marginal revenue product. If government fiat orders that, it
will lead to inflation or fewer jobs. A simple supply and demand curve clearly
demonstrates this reality. So when Gore, or Kerry, or Clinton, or Obama, or
anyone else calls for increasing the minimum wage, they are calling for
increased poverty and unemployment among the groups that need jobs the
most. Perhaps if government could do this successfully, it would be worthwhile,
but as is the case almost always, it achieves the opposite of what it intends.
