Lobby Congress for the People of Iraq

The form below will allow you to send a letter to the House Sub-Committee on International Relations and Human Rights, to protest the sanctions on Iraq. A copy is sent automatically to the organisers of Campaign '98. You may either use the existing text, modify it, or write your own letter. Member of House Sub-Committee on International Relations and Human Rights U.S. Congress Washington, D.C. Dear Honorable Member, I am writing to voice my opposition to continued U.S. support for Economic Sanctions against the state of Iraq and the people within it's borders. The UNICEF and WHO report that such sanctions are a cause of over 500,000 deaths to children, elderly and the infirm. The maintaining of the sanctions regime in no way protects the national interest of the United States and is a source of destabilization in the Middle East. The United Nations Sub-Commission for the Protection of Minorities has called for the lifting of the sanctions. I ask that you pressure the Chairman to hold hearings on the issue of the legality of sanctions as a means of accomplishing political objectives in light of recent human rights and health concerns to the innocent victims of this blunt instrument.
