The Peace and Freedom Party is a multi-tendency socialist, feminist party that first appeared on the California ballot in 1968. In February 2003, P&F became the first party in California history to regain ballot status after temporarily losing it in 1998, when none of its candidates for state-wide office won enough votes to keep the party on the ballot. In the 2008 election, there was a P&F presidential ticket and 9 more P&F candidates on the ballot for other partisan offices, from Congress to the state legislature, and a number of P&F members running with party support for "non-partisan" local offices such as city council.
