Over 25 years in support of Irish Prisoners of War and their families The Irish Northern Aid Committee is an American based humanitarian
organization formed in 1970 to alleviate the suffering of the dependents of Irish
political prisoners. INA membership is open to men and women of all races,
religions, and nationalities.
Today the families of four hundred political prisoners in Ireland, Britain and the
United States rely on our all-volunteer fund-raising conducted across the United
States on behalf of the charitable trusts An Cumann Cabhrach in Dublin and
Green Cross in Belfast.
INA units are based throughout the country and work with
Irish American organizations, labor, colleges, and concerned
individuals, to promote the welfare of Irish political prisoners
and to work toward an end to the undemocratic British
occupation of the north of Ireland. Our at-large members
throughout the country also play a major role through political
and media activities, with information and support from INA's
national office and The Irish People newspaper.
Irish Northern Aid raises American awareness of the nature of British
misrule in Ireland by highlighting the colonial and sectarian nature
of partition, the right of the Irish people to national
self-determination, and British military, economic, and political
occupation that artificially divides the Irish people and is the direct
and inevitable cause of the ongoing conflict.
Irish Northern Aid communicates the reality of life in the occupied Six Counties.
We provide a voice in America for ordinary people who otherwise would not be
heard.
