PAY NEWS

Here is the latest news on the pay negotiations, which have resumed following the suspension of industrial action:-

"The STE met BT on 18 July 1997. At the meeting we gave a presentation to BT on the main issues from the STE's MPG Survey. Following the presentation, further meetings with the Company have been arranged for 1 August and 12 August. It is expected that the second of the meetings will have the results from the BT MPG Survey before it."

"The Company is well aware of the need to make progress and is also aware of the timetable set by STE Annual Conference. However, the need to wait for both sets of survey results has delayed talks based on the results. The Council believe that it is unlikely that negotiations will reach any conclusion before the end of 3 months after Annual Conference. Consequently, and in order to meet the terms of the reference back carried at Annual Conference, the Council will be arranging a series of regional meetings during the early part of September to update branches on the state of discussions at that time."

"Branches will also be kept informed of any other developments in the meantime."
