We have had Sinbad since he was six months old, he is now eighteen. He was imported from Brazil before Hyacinths were endangered in the wild. He is fully capable of flight. His wings have never been clipped as I have seen no need to handicap him. He loves to stroll around the back yard. As you will see in the pictures on page two he also likes to play in the tree. He comes down when called, or when he is finished chewing branches! He is only allowed to fly around the yard while I am outside with him. The rest of the time he spends in a 10' W X 12' L X 8' H chain-link aviary. He has never learned to talk even though we have had other talking birds and talk to him all the time. I was told by three different bird handlers that Hyacinths do not talk. I have learned recently they will. Although I still have not observed this first hand. Sinbad has always had the attitude he is above doing anything he does not want to and I've never pushed him. I respect him the way he is and he loves me the way I am! We're buddies!
