In the story, The Jungle, by Upton Sinclair, Jurgis, an immigrant from Eastern Europe, and his family immigrate from their home to America in search of a better life. What they find in America is a country that is willing to exploit immigrants by making them work long hours for low wages in horrible working conditions. A similar fate awaited the immigrants who were discovered working long hours for three dollars a day earlier this summer in New York. (I don't know how to finish this one, so you can do so yourself.)
With any luck I'll come up with a better idea for an intro than this, or at least make this idea work a little better.
Mail me if you have anything better than this. (I hope you do, this intro sux!)
