Hello,

I just wanted to let you know that I don't particularly care for your page
itself. The only thing I do like is your link to Aloha For All, which is
much more informative and less inflammatory.

I was born in Eastern Europe where I was discriminated and bullied because of my ethnicity. I lived in lived the mainland for many years where I saw the discrimination against African-Americans and immigrants. Now, I live in a Hawaii Island.

I accepted that I have to live in a society where some forms of discrimination are present. But I was honestly shocked to be face with the OPEN form of DISCRIMINATION in the Hawaii. Maybe I am just a haole or outsider who could soberly see.

One of the examples is the Kamehameha School

Just think of this:
An only - whites school is opened in Alabama and even better it is indirectly sponsored by government. I ask you, how many hours it would take for the CNN crew to get there?

I am almost always asked what I am doing in Hawaii when I talk with others, but not when I told with other haole. I some times feel I am not welcome here. What is wrong with sharing some Aloha with others? Or Aloha only applies for people with Asian and Spanish faces (and tourists before they spend all their money)?

Let’s be tolerant and listen to the pain of our brothers and sisters. Maybe 40 years is about time to heal and to accept other member of society.

Your argument that most native Hawaiians are not very native is at the
very core of the Hawaiian sovereignty movement. Livelihoods, land and
culture among so many other tangibles were illegally stripped from a people.
If the Monarchy in 1893 would have lost a war in an effort to preserve power
I would not harbor sympathy for the sovereignty movement. The country,
however, was illegally stolen. The Queen's noble peaceful strategy to regain
the ability to oversee to the welfare of her people is still being formed
it's just been handed to new generations. We can only pray and demand that
the final draft will include an equitable settlement for all Hawaiians and
Non-Hawaiians. Sovereignty may or may not be restored and who knows what
form it will finally take. Perhaps the splintered sovereigntists need to be
united under one voice much like Kamehameha the Great had brought the islands
under one rule. Given the plight of native Hawaiians the playing field is
hardly level. The process itself is one of education to the plight of a
people. Education for Hawaiians and Non-Hawaiians alike. A process to level
the playing field.
The world is an ever evolving political stage. Isn't it time that a
muted people speak up for themselves? Hawaiians are no different than Jews,
Blacks, Hispanics, Irish, Japanese, Chinese etc. They have been attacked by
whites of European ancestory and would be made to hold subordinate positions
if it were not for political action. Hawaiians have a right to pursue their
interests. What shall their world be like if they remain quiet?
I am currently not part of a sovereignty movement but it's sites like
this that will fuel my resolve. I speak only for myself (for now).

Paul why so upset at the Hawaiians what did they do to you? If a week
and small minority of indigenous people want to persevere their heritage
what concern is it to you? I'm assuming your not a Hawaiian ? What's
wrong with little nations? And what's wrong with regaining them after
occupation it' s been done before or what's wrong with a nation within a
nation ever been to Monaco or Andorra ? Being proud of your endangered
heritage isn't anymore racist than black power or the IRA wanting the
Brits out of IRELAND. If you want to fight for a real cause fight to end
child abuse or hunger. In other words love all, serve all! Peace!!

Subject: 1996 resolution by National Organization for Women

Aloha
I attended the Las Vegas N.O.W. 1996 convention as a voting Delegate.
I worked diligently on a resolution that was included with approximately
300 very good issues. It made the first day cuts and was included with the
remaining that numbered approximately 125.
The cuts made that day left about 25 to be reviewed again. Out of the
resolutions that were voted upon by the delegates there was one that passed
unanimously.
The recognition of Hawaiian Indigenous to one drop of Hawaiian blood or
whomever they deem to be a member of their Nation, and if they should
chose to form a Hawaiian Nations women's organization, N.O.W. will
recognize that voice.
I am confused by this website. The recognition has been in place for years.
The nation is going through the confusion of it's birth , and it will stand
alone because it already has National recognition to. Let it be, to grow
it's own way , (and aside from any input by Hawaii State Government
design of what the State believes the Indigenous government structure
should look like.)
If you are curious to know my reason for working on the resolution with
commitment and diligence I will share it with you.
I came to the islands, not for the land mass opportunities, or the people,
but to simply watch the ocean and sea life that dwell on the reefs there do
daily what it does.
I feel strongly that the ocean is the asset of the islands.
I found as well, a very over-run group of people there with very little. I
was invited to share the little village waters, and just watch the beauty
that existed under the surface of the bay they rely on for food. Even
though my shower water was heated with wood it was offered. In this
remaining lifestyle of their matriarchal society, I could see a respected
person was one who gave, and held others needs first.
The more sharing and giving person is power among these peoples, it is
known as Aloha . This fragile society is a circular in thought process
group... when regarding people it naturally includes all, and shares for
the benefit of all.
My observation was confusion and power hungry persons who reside on the
islands outside of the Hawaiian Aloha way of life. The State society is a
very racially diversified society "all pointing finger at each other" and
all trying to make another race or color responsible ,as a cover ruse, to
create confusion and take.....during the ruckus....(looting is the better
word.... during a diversion of confusion over who did what to whom they
create).
The Pacific Asian represents the largest part of the State government
segment, the Latin segment are represented as well in the running of the
Hawaii State government. I observe that the Caucasian comprises a more
transient segment of the population , with even fewer Black people
represented in Police, Judicial, or Probation's roles. The operation of
the State is unlike any state I have lived in before. The American
structure appears to be there, with stated policies, but enactment or a
function of them , on behalf of the people is missing. Hawaii state system
to me , appears to only perpetuate itself as a system.
This "need for power segment" dwelling in the islands as a State of America
has a very patriarchal linear viewpoint who pull people down near them
and seek a place they call up ...appearing to seek the illusion known as
power.
(..I witness the same activity by the Black crabs that struggle and fight
on the rocks at the shoreline". ) The easiest persons to harm in that kind
of society are the softer more giving, and they get abused in an unhealthy
clamor to blame.
The first form of abuse is emotional ... most abusers only look up to
elevate their status and power and therefore can step easily on those ar
ound them that don't behave in such a manner as themselves. They aren't
even interested that others may think differently that them because they
don't even see them .
The second form of abuse I see is financial ...the State always has a
reason why it can't recognize the Indigenous Hawaiian and simply give them
their back rent money that was legally due under the original fee simple
arrangement made to keep Hawaiian Lands in Hawaiian Hands.
(Maybe If they had , there would be no squabble ...instead a healthy
landlord group who really would spend it to keep the place clean. Projects
for monorails and clean lands and waters are visions I listened to from
Hawaiian villages . The design sounded well planned and thought out like a
location in a theme park that is really a whole state of paradise. I heard
intellectual viewpoints on growth and cost effective water desalination
plants)
Instead there exists special interest politicians with much to gain in
the transportation field , ie: cars, gas stations and roads, or building
market , or this or that . Power purveyors all "pointing fingers at the
other races "while the islands that were a paradise , slowly turn into
infill, pollution, with nepotism and collusion as the long term vision ,on
everyone's plate for the money driving the next developmental plan. Hawaii
State government advocates a very violent society where the implementation
of a judicial precedence ruling advocating the big guy emotionally abusing
and battering in the home instead of honoring and empowering the weaker
.All the 49 other states looks at the judicial mandate as violent and
pagan....but chaos leaves an easy society to rule, so why not endorse such
policy.
These mandates perpetuating generation dysfunction for families, are not
what the Hawaiian Indigenous society has indicated it wants as their
children's future. Those that behave like that were frowned upon and deemed
"sick" The Genocide of a beautiful ,caring ,society by those with
blinders on, who are afraid of power loss ...."never had it in the first
place" according to Hawaiian Kapuna Wahine I listened to. "That is why
they spend all the time seeking it."
Not one felt criminals of any race should walk around able to act like
that, and expressed that something is very wrong with the lack of justice
in the system for general public safety in the State of Hawaii.
The American way of life in states I am used to, seeks to empower those who
come tired and poor.
The states that grew up in America use tax funds and promote on behalf of
the people who pay the taxes.
Satus Quo State of Hawaii is not , in my view ,the way to govern. It
barely behaves American in my opinion.
To confuse a melting pot of races into believing that this is day to day
life in the Mainland shocks me.
This remote State system accepts no input by people, but instead reigns
out money as power,so there are no check and balances that makes it
functions for the people... instead it perpetuates a system it's self.
I think of Arizona when Native Indigenous finally organized their tribal
system of appointment for spokespeople and leaders again, (and they
didn't all ask for voting booths or listen to dictatorship type of
appointments), each group sent it's own chosen representative to talk for
the interest of that group to their council pow wow .It was not mandated to
them how to conduct their business in choosing leadership nor attempts or
control them, for their human rights to live as they believe ...as one with
their natural world.
Wasn't everyone pointing finger there years ago saying why isn't welfare
appreciated.... at first ? Pointing fingers like small selfish children?
More for me... more for me...I can't share...it's mine...kine attitude.
Well look now, at the beautiful state ...where in a few short years the
"bad guy " is now recognized as the one harming the natural environment
.Two nations live as one in a better environment and the Indian Nation is
empowered ...and there is peace and healing between the peoples instead of
mistrust and animosity.
Indian Nations didn't have funds and Hawaiian Nations should have plenty
to get going on, once the greasy fingers aka : state of Hawaii are ordered
out of their pie, and away from their dinner table.
Uncle Sam, in my opinion, just told the Governor of the State of Hawaii
that the state cannot continue control over the Indigenous Nation by
making them a part of State government and ordered it cease it attempts to
keep them in ransom. State of Hawaii will not be able to reign power on
Indigenous Nations money.
.Frankly, I foresee a day when Uncle Sam says payup or face imprisonment
for fraud. It was partially Federal money paid to Hawaii Indigenous that
was entrusted to move through the State of Hawaii to them. American People
paid the taxes to give the Fed. Government the money that was sent for land
use fees for military etc. ...and if this State of Hawaii persists, the
people of America will rally for the direction of it's funds intended use
to be made right. I remember Georgia , I believe the last time was in
Georgia that the government was found to be corrupt and were removed . The
National Guard was sent to run the place until the people could make it a
location of the people, for the people, and by the people. I am pleased the
Supreme court is turning it's gaze on the State of Hawaii for misuse of
public funds. IRS said no to Trustee corruption controlling Hawaiian
Indigenous money. The word is coming out "NO" to powerbrokers that conduct
reprisals on whistle blowers. I think as Hawaiian Indigenous obtain
Human rights, so to will a just State of Hawaii be born for those dwelling
there to experience a true democracy....like it was supposed to be.
Hawaii State is trying to sell an opinion that America is not a giving
nurturing Nation, but I know it upsets everyone that I have ever spoken to
living there, visiting, and on the mainland , that Hawaii government acts
like it does. That is almost 20 years of listening.
The Indigenous Nation should have the control over their own money,
homes built the way they want , and not just forced into the linear design
architecture of future slums. What could be worse than the schools and
entitlements in place now for them ....as well as people dwelling in the
state?
I endorse their right to live free from the tyranny, and govern a healthy
nation within the State of Hawaii (as the Indian Indigenous now do), rather
than under the system of justice that all agree is very unjust , violent ,
filled with nepotism and corruption , called State of Hawaii.
I respect that you took your amendment right to openly express an opinion
and thank you for granting me mine

To whom it may concern:
Many of the feelings you expressed on this web site are based on
misconceptions, and your opinions are not supported with correct facts. I
have read some of the e-mail you have recieved, and am not surprised to find
that many agree with me.
First of all, let me give you some information about myself. I am a
feminist, a Hawaiian Sovereignty supporter, and a sophomore at the Kamehameha
schools. This does not make me prejudice against men, other races, or
anybody who does not attend Kamehameha. I am almost fluent in the Hawaiian
Language, and have taken as many Hawaiian Culture and History classes as
possible. However, I am currently enrolled in a college European History
course with a B+ average and plan to take a college U.S. History next year.
I disagree with you that the Hawaiian Sovereignty movements are racist.
The Hawaiian Monarchy was overthrown in 1893, but do you know why? American
sugar planters wanted to trade sugar with the U.S. and other countries
without having to pay sugar tariffs. The American Government saw Hawai`i as
a strategic point for warfare in the pacific and backed up Sanford B. Dole
and his Provisional Government.
I must say, I found your web site at a most opportune time. I have just
finished reading a chapter in European History on Imperialism. Imperialism
is the process by which one country, with superior military strength imposes
its control over the land, resources and POPULATION of another country.
Imperialism reached its peak from the 1880s to 1914. It was also rooted in
social Darwinism, where white males were seen superior to minority races.
Imperialism was primarily related to capitalism and industrialization. You
may be surprised to know that missionaries were related to imperialism,
especially in that their main goal was to civilize heathens before a region
was populated by Europeans or Americans. Imperialism also called for the
presence of military force to protect missionaries. All of the motives for
the overthrow were diverged from imperialistic (and racist) ideals, which
you failed to note in your article.
Hawaiians are among the poorest in Hawai`i today. They are also among
the lowest educated, despite Kamehameha schools effort. They suffer the
worst health of all the nationalities in the U.S., and have the highest
prison inmate and homeless rates in Hawai`i. With the recent Rice vs.
Cayetano case, (which I am sure you are applauding) Hawaiians have now lost
the right to vote exclusively in the OHA elections, in matters concerning
only themselves. Why is this so? I am sure you believe in the untrue "Lazy
Hawaiian" saying. I feel it is because of the same reasons the Native
American Indians have the highest suicide rate, and extreme poverty.
Many of the Hawaiian Sovereignty movements are simply for compensation,
because all the land taken from native Hawaiians is worth an extremely large
amount of money. At the time Hawai`i became a state, THE UNITED STATES
GOVERNMENT AGREED TO PAY BACK NATIVE HAWAIIANS FOR THEIR LANDS FULLY. Native
Hawaiians of today could use this money, and as I have already stated could
use it to better improve housing and living conditions, health and education.
This is why OHA was created, to better obtain money owed to Hawaiians in
order to improve the conditions of life for Native Hawaiians. However, I am
sure that you do not know, Hawaiians do not even get 1% of what they are owed
for ceded lands. The United States Government made an agreement, and they
are not sticking to it as yet.
Another thing which I MUST mention is that Kamehameha Schools was
established according to American Laws, as a private institution funded by a
legal trust to do as it sees fit. As some others mention in your e-mail, the
will of Bernice Pauahi Bishop does not restrict admission to Hawaiian
children, but only says that Hawaiian children be given preference. Her
trust educates more Hawaiian people than any other institution in the world.
The trust offers so much to so many people who need it, I cannot see how you
would have something against it. Something that you probably didn’t know was
that Bernice Pauahi Bishop’s husband (a white), Charles Reed Bishop
established a number of schools at the same time his wife did (with her
money, mind you). You may familiar with some of them, Punahou and
Mid-Pacific University, which were both whites-only schools. Today, only the
richest, most elite students may attend these schools without a scholarship.
Finally, I wonder what motivated you to create this web site. I know you
have strong feelings about this issue, but you do not support your
allegations. This leads me to believe that YOU, are going only on your hate
for the Hawaiians. Is your hate founded in that you are not entitled to a
piece of the pie? Or is it that you just do not know the true facts? I
suggest that you better support your opinions in your article to at least
seem more credible.
Nana i ke kumu. (Look to the source.)

There is yet another position, probably not yet in place when you put
up your site. His Majesty Akahi Nui was coronated at the Ioalani
Palace Feb.22,1998. It is His position that the Nation be returned to
the Kanaka Maoli but that all residents, regardless of race, creed or
color are welcome to remain conditional only on citizenship.(Having
sworn allegiance to the Kingdom of Hawaii and it's constitution. see
