REVIEWS ON PAK ECONOMY
Rule by Financial Infraction
by Ghulam Rasul
AN ACT which threatens monetary stability by devaluation gives rise
to inflation by means of money printing and creates unemployment in consequence
of consumption of reproductive capital, constitutes what may be called
financial terrorism. These acts are carried out by the governmnet itself
in order to rule by terror.
The motto of our political leadership is, "borrow, consume and refund,"
It encourages loan financing and is irresponsible. It leads to mounting
debt, which is, in turn secured through incurring more debt.
It forces the government of the day to take shelter behind devaluation
and to finance its outlay with money printing. It fuels inflation and unemployment.
The govermnet tries to satisfy the people with a regular dosage of slogans.
Each governmnet inherits a bad economy and leaves it in a still worse shape.

Perks of MNA's by
Izharul Hasan Burney
IN PAKISTAN, LEGISLATORS' FIRST CONCERN HAS BEEN TO
EXTRACT MAXIMUM BENEFITS FROM THE EXCHEQUER AS THE FRUIT OF THEIR ELECTION
DRILL. CONSEQUENTLY, THERE HAS BEEN A STEADY INCREASE IN THEIR PAY AND

Politicians contribute a lote in uncollected income tax. Some idea of
the undeclared income of the politicians can be had from the perks of the

allowance of Rs 3,000. In addition, he is allowed travel vouchers worth
Rs 50,000 annually (or Rs 35,000 cash in lieu thereof), and nine business
class (open) return air tickets from airport nearest to his constituency
to Islamabad.
During the sessions or the committe meetings, the MNA is further entitled
to vertain allowances e.g. air travel (one business class return ticket
from constituency to place of meeting/session' and Rs 150); rail journey
(one AC class fare plus one 2nd class fare); road journey (Rs three per
km); and foreign travel (First Class air fare).

of residence on duty (which includes a period of not more than three days
before or after the session/ meeting).
Finally, the MNA is also entitled to housing allowance of Rs 450 per
