The Children's Legal Centre is an independent voluntary organization which aims to create an improved legal framework for children in Ireland. It aims to initiate and pursue legal action on behalf or in association with children in order to secure their rights under legislation.
In particular the centre aims to :
To evaluate and critique legislation to ensure that the rights of children are safe guarded and protected.
To monitor and evaluate the particular implemention of Irish Child Care Legislation.
To campaign for the resource and services necessary to adequately implement the legislation relating to the needs and rights of children.
To monitor all statuory bodies with responsibility for the children in order to ensure that the welfare of children and young people is paramount.
To conduct research into issues pertaining to the rights and welfare of children and young persons in order to inform policy and practice.
To raise public awareness of the rights and needs of children and young persons.
The Childrens Legal Centre welcomes information about law and pratice affecting children in Ireland. Financially, the Centre can be helped by donations.
