Email “Challenges” (call-to-action letters) will be designed and sent out to spur on and develop the group into better disciples of the Lord, while simultaneously impacting the culture at large. At times, members will be called on to design Challenges o their own to share with the whole group, to further develop the individual members leadership capabilities. The greatest amount of the CC work and influence will be outside the confining four walls of the modern Christian sanctuary. The members will be called on to participate in various assignments that will fall into broad categories. Emphasis areas will i clude, but not be limited to the following areas; apologetics, political, evangelism, intellectual, cultural and diversity issues. Dear Christian friends, My name is Dave Stiver. I am a Republican candidate for the Colorado House of Representatives - 15th District. Let me begin by saying that I am a conservative first, and a Republican second. Parties may let you down, but principles will not. My wife ( iana) and I were the first active Christians among a party filled with Fordites (individual moderates who adored Gerald Ford). Unfortunately, we went through our years of being the "cute Christian couple" or "born aginners." I too am frustrated with the Republican Party and that is partly why I am running for office. I want reform, and true reform now. As of late the only difference between the Republicans and the Democrats has been that we spend less money - at least we sa we do. The sad part of this story is that there are many, many, many candidates who say they are Christians but don't act like it when in office. A good case in point. The moderates have placed another Republican to oppose me in a primary race. He professes to be a Christian, yet is accepting money from individuals who support candidates that have gone to bat for the Gay/Homosexual Lifestyle folk . As a Christian, homosexuality is wrong, just wrong and an abomination to God. This is just one case in point. To fight against these groups, I need the financial support of true believing Christians (like yourselves). Any contribution, any size, would be greatly appreciated. As one, we can conquer all odds and defeat the enemy. Please feel free to visit my web site. I would appreciate any and all words of encouragement. Thank you and God Bless. Dave P.S.: Keep up the good work--Prayer Warriors Unite!!!

I think that freedom is the key. So do the Democrats, apparently - Freedom from need, freedom from want, freedom from responsibility, freedom from thought, freedom from justice, freedom from choice if you haven't been quite born yet, freedom from "dange " - For my part this Democrat will vote for the Republican candidate in every case until such time that the present Libertarians become a "second party". Under freedom your religion becomes your "business", even "your affair" if you so choose.

Have you though about having a section which evaluates political leaders relative to their moral beliefs. Example, in the 7th Congressional seat in Houston, Texas being vacated by Bill Archer, there are some wonderful candidates running. Of particular C ristian interest should be the Wallace Henley campaign. If more Christians knew about him, he would be able proclaim a reasonant message nationally. This seat affects everyone throughout America and because of its importance (one of the largest Represen ative seat in Texas and the US) it can be used as a bully pulpit.

Your page is interesting. I am, I've been told, very conservative (I don't know what the "very" stands for). I have recently left the GOP on their reluctance to face the ISSUES. I am extremely frustrated and I'd like to encourage everyone to abandon the p rty that abandoned them first. I am currently looking at the US Tax-Payers party, which is founded strongly in the Christian faith, instead of big money politics. And that reminds me, liberals love to accuse the GOP of being a money centered body. No, on he contrary, money is the most referred to subject in the Bible, and Republicans are good at earning it, probably through the Divine advise. Besides, take a good look at the critiques and you will find money hungry, self-deceiving liars. Who had the finan ial controversies from the 70's to the early 90's? The Democrats in Congress who stole from the American people. Who was recently declared innocent by the IRS (a liberal organization by its very nature)? Newt Gingrich, the most hated Republican that had b en charged with tax-fraud or something (never did quite get what they charged him with). The difference between the wealthy in the GOP and the DP is that the former earns their money, while the latter get their cash by stealing from our earnings. Great pa e, I shall visit again.

I don't always agree with everything the government has done, but don't you think that you're taking this to an extreme? God says that we are to submit to authority, and the government is our authority, and we need to respect them. We also need to show th m God's love. That's another command: Love one another as I have loved you. Maybe it's time to stop slamming the government, and submit to them instead; with a servants heart.

I am sincerely concerned by some of the views expressed on this site. The greatest barrier we as Christians face in this country today comes from within our own so called commonality. In looking through this guestbook I have read comments that contain b gotry and hatred. It is no wonder to me that the world does not take Christianity seriously. As a group of people we proclaim love and peace but in our comments we express views that are in DIRECT violation of God's laws. I believe that it is time for s as Christians to turn back to God's word and strive to truely understand it. However, without this understanding we will continue to be the laughing stock of the nations. There are few people in this country who would be willing to die for their relig ous beliefs and that is truely sad. This nation was founded on the principles of Jesus Christ, and countless men and women have given their lives to ensure that these biblical concepts be upheld! Until Christ's church is willing to do that very same thi g, we will continue to be ineffective in our endeavors. It is time for the church to stand up for what we believe. In a country theoretically run on the precepts of the majority rule, there is no reason we can not change the course of the United States f America.

I am thoroughly offended by your take on Christianity. As a theologically and socially liberal Christian, it annoys me to no end that Fundamentalists proclaim their kind of Christianity to be the only kind of Christiantiy. Your site only serves to further perpetuate this myth. Also, how do "liberal" churches declare war on Christiantiy? That would imply we are declaring war on ourselves. Have a little Christian love. If people hate Christianity, it's because of the narrow views you espouse.

I have long asserted that what we are advocating on this board (economic justice) is consistent with the teachings of the bible, but I think that falls a little short. I now assert that it is the very basis of the bible, and to ignore that, you will miss the most important message: Help each other while we are alive. God requires radically transformed economic relationships among his people, and instead has been shown personal selfishness, structural injustice, and economic oppression. A biblically-historical look back demonstrates how these failures result in catastrophe, and how when people have listened to the pleas of the poor, things turned out differently. First, a word about private property. I believe in it, to a degree. My toothbrush is mine. I believe everyone should have possession enough to provide the basic necessities for themselves and family. But Weyerhauser owning more state land in Washington than anyone else? That is another story. And God is very clear that he really owns all the land, and that “family ownership” really meant stewardship. The contrast between early Israel and the surrounding societies was striking. In Egypt, most of the land belonged to the Pharaoh or the temples. In most other surrounding countries, feudal systems of land holding prevailed. The king granted large tracts of land, worked by landless laborers, to a small number of royal vassals. Israel, on the other hand, was a decentralized egalitarian society with family “ownership”. Joshua 18 and Numbers 26 contain accounts of the fair division of land. The story about Naboth’s vineyard (1 Kings 21) demonstrates the importance of each family’s ancestral land. Frequent Old Testament references about not moving ancient boundaries reinforces the idea that each family would have the available land needed to supply life’s necessities. (Deut. 19:14, 27:17, Job 24:2, Proverbs 22:28, Hosea 5:10). Which brings us to two of my favorites, Leviticus 25 and Deuteronomy 15. Leviticus 25 calls for a return of the land to its original “ownership” every 50 years! Physical handicaps, death of a breadwinner, bad luck, lack of ability etc. could lead a family to become poorer than others, and God doesn’t want such disadvantages to lead to ever-increasing extremes of wealth and poverty. So he gave a law that returned land back to its rightful owner every 50 years. Leviticus 25:23, “The land shall not be sold in perpetuity, for the land is mine; for you are strangers and sojourners with me.” In fact, the “land” was not sold at all, but the number of harvests (25:16). Deteronomy 15 calls for the release of debts every seven years (!!!), and the ecological wisdom of letting the land rest every seven years. (And what spontaneously grew belonged to the poor, the traveler, and the beasts who happened upon it). It describes how one should not balk at the idea of lending to someone in the sixth year, that you may have the debt canceled in the next year. When was the last time you heard a capitalist support this type of arrangement? Now, first century Christians took these lessons to heart, and demonstrated their beliefs by the way they lived. Communally, lovingly. They shared a common purse (John 16:6). In addition to the twelve, many women joined the community, sharing their financial resources (Luke 8:1, Mark 15:40). We have talked before about the Matthew 19:21 passage when Jesus advises the rich man to sell his property and “Come, follow me,” meaning join the community of sharing and love, where his security was not based on individual property holdings. In Jerusalem :“Now the company of those who believed were of one heart and soul, and no one said that any of the things which he possessed was his own, but they had everything in common” (Acts 4:32). Giving surplus to the needy was not enough. They regularly dipped into their reserves, selling property to aid the needy. Barnabas sold a field he owned. “There was not a needy person among them, for as many as were possessors of lands or houses sold them;...and distribution was made to each as any had need” (Acts 4:34-35). Acts 6 is like early affirmative action! The minority Hellenists spoke Greek, and their widows were neglected and overlooked. When the injustice was pointed out, the church responded by choosing seven men of Greek background to look after the matter. The church turned over its funds to the minority group, and this caused the “word of God” to “increase, the number of disciples multiplied.” Paul spent most of his life sharing and raising money for the needy and oppressed. Class divisions at Corinth horrified him, seeing wealthy Christians feasting at the Eucharist while poor folks were going hungry. “All who eat and drink without discerning the body, eat and drink judgment against themselves”(1 Corinthians 11:27-29). Paul also praised the Macedonians for giving “beyond their means” (2 Corinthians 8:3). But he assured all that such giving was not to cause the hardships that many capitalism supporters assume will result. “I do not mean that others should be eased and you burdened, but that as a matter of equality your abundance at the present time should supply their want, so that their abundance may supply your want, so that there may be equality” (2 Corinthians 8:13-15). He also adds reference to the Exodus 16:13-21 account of the manna collecting, when greedy people gathered extra, but when it was all accounted there was just enough for everyone. “He that gathered much had no over, and he that gathered little had no lack.” What causes war? James 4:1-2 says this: “What causes wars, and what causes fighting among you?... You desire and do not have; so you kill. And you covet and cannot obtain; so you fight and wage war.” Instances of forgetting the poor abound. (Isaiah 5:8-10, Amos 6:4-7, Luke 16:19-31, James 5:1-5 are a few.) Coveting without end causes poverty and our current economic system is based solely on unending coveting, “growing the economy” and perpetually expanding markets. “Take care! Be on your guard against all kinds of greed; for one’s life does not consist in the abundance of possessions” (Luke 12:15). Jesus was telling this to the rich man obsessed with material things, and whose land produced abundantly, and the man thought to himself, “What should I do, for I have no place to store my crops?” Then he said, “I will...pull down my barns and build larger ones, and there I will store all my grain and my goods. And I will say to my soul, ‘Soul, you have ample goods laid up for many years; relax, eat drink, be merry.’” But God said to him, “You fool! This very night your life is being demanded of you. And the things you have prepared, whose will they be?” So it is with those who store up treasures for themselves, but are not rich toward God (Luke 12:16-21). All of these examples demand action, not apathy. I don’t understand how people who consider themselves Christians can ignore these examples. I don’t understand how people who consider themselves Christians can support an economic system based on profit and collection of interest on loans for profit (see Exodus 22:25, Deut. 23:19, Leviticus 25:35-38). There are many many many more examples; it is impossible to list them all. The most frequent subjects in the Bible are Money, Property, Wealth, and Poverty (not in any particular order). If you believe that the Bible is the blueprint for how to live and what kind of society we should have, then start paying attention to its central message: Take care of each other, live fairly and free from strife, in peace, and help those around you to enjoy the bounty that is for all, not to be hoarded for a few.

I am a conservative. I support the U.S. Taxpayers Party, and encourage any serious conservative christian to check them out. The Republican Party continues to waffle on important issues, and at this point I consider them little better than the Democrats. his is true at the state and national levels. The local (county) Republican parties seem to do a better job, but the only way grassroots Rebulican issues will be reflected in the wider arena is if the local parties will elect true conservatives to their d strict, state, and national conventions. As a district delegate to the 9th district Republican Convention (Georgia), I see how the party moves away from it's core principles the further "up the ladder" you go. I was recently elected to the Walker County, Georgia, Board of Education. What scares me is that the majority of liberal policy being adopted is being proposed, supported, or at least tolerated by professing christians. Before you support a candidate who claims to be a christian, FIND OUT WHERE THEY STAND ON THE ISSUES! CHRISTIAN AMERICA - WAKE UP!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

It's a lot bigger than republican vs. democrat- that is just the form it has taken within the public forum.....what a time to be alive. God bless...

I know of no liberal organization, group, or even person who believes that Christians should not participate in politics. I have never found any arguements inregards to the founding fathers that suggested that they likewise did not want Christians in politics. It's clear from most of the founding fathers writings that most were diestic, who believed in the ethical values of Jesus and believed that religious faith imparted civic values but rejected the supernaturalistic, the dogmas, and the church institutions as ones hostile to religious liberty. That is w y we have separation of church and state. As someone who is actively involved in my church, as well as in politics, I hope people of faith of all stripes are more involved in the political process. As a leftwinger, of course I oppose the agendas of the re igious right..that's not anti-christian anything, simply how the political process works..ideas become contested for, as they should be. I know quite a few Christians, and denominations, and organizations which are consistently on the left, and I know ath ist groups such as Ayn Rand followers, Objectivists, Logical Positivists, etc. who probably identify with the right wing...if anyone is interested in Christians who are involved in politics from a left perspective check out my website..Faith and Social Ju tice Page...

Moreover, they were w lling to accept absolute power in return for peace and prosperity leading to general apathy. As economic decline loomed, there was more expensive government & tighter centralization. These were some of the factors that, consequently, lead to the downfall of the Roman Empire. Ultimately, there is no foundation strong enough for society or the individual life within the realm of finiteness and beginning from Man alone as autonomous. Yet this is becoming to be more & more symptomatic today as promoted by ur leaders while the Judeo-Christian absolutes become less & less. The lesson that should be learned here is being ignored unless those of us who have strong enough convictions will take appropriate action to bring this nation back to the Judeo-Christian absolutes that our constitution is based on. It is about time that the Churches in this nation stand up and speak out against Mr Clinton and his abuse of office, lying and threats. I also do not hear an outcry against his so called advisors ie. Carvel who would not know the truth if it hit him on th head. I am disgusted with the "chicken brigade" in Congress who would put their sworn duty to uphold the Constitution beneath that of the so called public opinion polls. Well, i have never been registered anything but Republican. I am fairly liberal. By that I mean that I don't believe in going back to the "good old days" of Lynchings, secret night raids, union-busting, Catholic-hating. Like Gingrich, I believe that FDR w s the greatest president in this century. I also can quote some fine things from Lincoln. "I have often inquired of myself what was the great principle or idea which held this Union together for so long ---- It was that gave promise that in due time the w ights woulds be lifted from the shoulders of all men and they should have an equal break in life." Now the Republicans want to wreak social secuity, gut college education, reduce the Earned Income Credit to modest income families, and turn back the clock on civil rights. I don't go along. If Lincoln were President he would be closer to General Colin Po ell's ideas, than to Rush Limbaugh and John C. Calhoun.

Very good site. I agree that the intentions of the Founding Fathers are being perverted today. So many liberals today misconstrue the Constitution because they really have no clue what it really says. Christianity as a religion is based upon the princi le of liberty in that it seeks to free people from the oppression of this world and the people in this world who would force their license on the body politic as a whole (read, those who want to teach homosexuality in public schools, tax-payer funded abor ion, etc.) Liberals, despite their rhetoric about getting the government out of our bedrooms, really want to see the government enforcing THEIR bedroom beliefs onto the rest of us. As a conservative libertarian who is also a Christian, I believe that th se acts are sins, and should not be enforced by big government onto the rest of the population. Remember, to force a man to support that which he is opposed is sinful and tyrannical.

We have the Christian (invariably Republican, rightwing, and nationalistic) and than we have the heathen. Well I've been involved in left politics for years and someof the strongest Christians I know of are involved in progressive politics. Clearily the Biblical mandate for justice justice justice, especially for the poor, the marginalize , the foreigner, is something that is incompatible with economic social darwinism of the right. Your church and state page amused me, especially the quote from Ronald. Perhaps many people have forgotten Nancy Reagan's lifelong consultation with astrologers. Hmmm... Astrology is a kind of religion... So much for separation of church and state. I was also struck by your reference to the Mayflower compact. Does anyone know that the Pilgrims had complete freedom of religion in Holland? They rejected this freedom and moved to North America because they wanted all of society to be just like them. ost people couldn't have survived the Pilgrin society in North America. We would have been executed or exiled. Being faithful to what one believes is a critical aspect of living for all. But reinterpreting history and using religion to fit one's political ideas is neither a Godly or new idea!

No idiom of our time is more compelling to the hearts of Christians today than that of Sir Edmund Burke, who said, "The only thing necessary for the triumph of evil is for good men to do nothing." The church has been silent too long: if we lose this natio , the fault will be entirely our own.

I think it's is time for Christians to take a stand. When I was younger I did not bother because it "did not affect me". Now I understand the difference. I have a beautiful wife and two healthy children the Lord has blessed me with. I owe it to my chi dren to stand up and lead them in a "Christ-like" direction. I am not perfect nor do I pretend to be. I am just forgiven. My nine year old son and I went to D.C. on October 4, 1997 to "STAND IN THE GAP". It was awesome to be there. Yet, the media and some people did not understand why we were there. We were there because immorality and greed have run rampant in our country. It is time to take a stand! We want God-fearing men and women in our political offices to turn our nation around. We have sto d by and seen the unsilent minority bully their way to the top and take their slimy morals with them. It has influenced laws, lawmakers, judges and people in power. I do not hate these people, I just despise their smutty lifestyles. If our nation does' turn to Jesus and back to the Bible for direction, our freedoms will end. Brave men and women died for the freedoms we enjoy. I pray for our country and our leaders daily. I encourage you to as well. Working together WE can make a difference. I have been ashamed of the news coming from Washington in recent weeks. If it is all true it is pathetic. Is there no shame? I thank you for allowing me to share these thoughts with you. GOD BLESS AMERICA! May you come to accept Jesus in your heart. Philli ians 4:13

Christians must be willing to stand up for the oppressed and the poor, to win the hearts and minds of the public. We must be willing to stand up against injustice, even when it comes from an organization that, unlike the wolf dressed as a wolf, come to us a s a wolf in sheeps clothing, seeking whom from among the flock they might devour. Pastors need to kick out the current form of money changers from recruiting inside of the church environment. -Those whose primary interest in seeking new "friends" is that which may develop into financial gain, to be considered "worthwhile." These wolves run rampant, unchecked, and present themselves not as a blessing to those who attend for the sole purpose of Worhship, but as a repulsive spectacle. Mostly, these are "Multi-Level Marketing recruiters," who themselves are incapable of seeing they are practicing a blatant Evil. These need to be stopped, kicked out if they won't stop. They ivide many churches and create false allegiances that are not centered around the things of Christ. They create an unnatural tension, one that is not meant to be there within the Sanctuary. Amway is a prime example of a company that falsely boasts of practicing according to the Bible. They Steal, they Slander, They Covet, and Pastors need to take these bulls by the horns and STOP them dead in their tracts. Visit my site, and learn why I am running for US Congress in "Amways" US Congressional district. See the full documentation provided on site. God Bless.... Kenneth L Lowndes ********** **

I am a big fan of Rush. I appreciate him taking a stand for Christians in America. Too many times we are the center of jokes by Hollywood and comedians, and in the end, they will be the ones who ultimately will lose. These liberals scream for tolerance yet they do not want to hear anything that we Christians have to say. I do not get to listen to Rush all of the time on hte radio, but I do listen to him when I can. I will continue to listen to him every chance I get. Douglas MacArthur, (1880-1964), the Supreme Commander of Allied Forces in the Pacific during World War II, was celebrated for having liberated the Philippine Islands from oppression and for having reveived the surrender of the Japanese forces in Tokyo Bay on the U.S.S. Missouri, September 3, 1945. A five-star general and Commander of the U.N. forces during the Korean War, General MacArthur recounted: "History fails to record a single precedent in which nations subject to moral decay have not passed into policital and economic decline. There has been either a spiritual awakening to overcome the moral lapse, or a progressive deterioration leading to ultimate national disaster." A very interesting site that I hope to visit many times in the future. I agrre with your opening statement about the the denigration of Christians in toays society, this is something that occurs today, but also has occured for centuries. Don't feel so pic ed on, Christians in yesteryear had it much worse then the cry babies I hear today. You are right that the Founding Fathers did not envision a government that restricted Christians from participation, but by the same token they did not envision a government run by Christians to establish Christian policy in society. I get really nervous hen you turned away from the process and even more nervous when you are elected because of your Christianity rather then your politics. I support every individuals right to participate. I support every individuals right to worship as they please. I envy those with a strong religious belief that guides them in their daily lives, but I fear those that blindly follow a religious leader, whet er an Iranian mullah or Pat Robertson or the Christian Right. In closing I would also like to point out my distatste and absolute disdain of leaders that would like us to believe their piety without any evidence that they are true believers. The two that come most readily to mind are former President Reagan and talk show host Rush Limbaugh. Why is it they can sound so pious and yet their actions reflect little if any of the Christians principles? Thank you for the site. I'll be back!
