Speaker Nabih Berri



Mr. Nabih Berri was born in Sierra Leone, in 1938. He got his primary education in South Lebanon. He continued his secondary education in Makassed and Ecole de la Sagesse, in Beirut.
Mr. Berri graduated from the Lebanese University with a degree in Law, and got his masters degree from the "Faculte de Droit" in Paris.
He started his career as a lawyer in 1963, was also president of Lebanese Students Movement as well as Lebanese Universities Union.
Mr. Berri favored Imam Moussa Al Sadr in his political activities. He is the head of Amal Movement since 1980.
Mr. Berri was appointed Minister of State for the rebuilding of South Lebanon, in 1984. Then he was Minister of Justice, Electrical and Hydraulic resources.
Mr. Berri was elected President of the Lebanese parliament on Tuesday, November 20, 1992.
