The Maple Ridge bare-breasts advocate
created a domino effect as four rubberneckers plowed into one another as she exposed
herself on the Lougheed Highway.
"A pickup truck had made an emergency
stop for reasons unknown, which caused the first vehicle to stop abruptly, causing
a domino effect," said Sgt. Paul Darbyshire of Maple Ridge RCMP.
Meyer had decided to take an unencumbered
bike ride along Maple Ridge's main thoroughfare yesterday morning.
It wasn't long before police received
complaints about her state of undress.
They pulled her over near the corner
of Laity Street.
It wasn't long before a second police
file had to be opened.
"The officer heard a loud crash
while he was dealing with the topless woman," said Darbyshire.
And those were some expensive dominos
that came crashing down.
One car managed to stop without hitting
the pickup.
A second vehicle crashed into the first,
racking up a $1,000 bill at the local body shop.
A third vehicle crashed into the second,
with a bill for $1,500.
And it'll cost another $1,000 to fix
the fourth vehicle, which managed to run into the third.
"It was not my fault -- I was minding
my own business," said Meyer, who has made a name for herself and with police
by swimming topless at the Maple Ridge pool.
"Ontario women go topless, and
so do Canadian men, and so can I."
Unfortunately, Maple Ridge RCMP have
other ideas.
Meyer's 10 a.m. political statement
prompted the cops to recommend two charges yesterday -- one for causing a disturbance
and another for nudity.
"I'm exercising my constitutional
right," countered Meyer.
Darbyshire said the pickup driver fled
the scene after the $3,500 breast job.
"The woman was asked to put on
her shirt," he said. "She complied and went on her way."
The sergeant said Maple Ridgers simply
don't see topless women when they drive down Lougheed Highway:
"Not when I do, anyway."
