TOPLESS IN REGINA

So it's Regina on a long weekend in summer and the locals are starved for entertainment. Does that really justify a three-hour-wait on a sweltering hot day in the hope of catching a glimpse of a 19-year-old's breasts? Several dozen people (mostly men, naturally) did just that Sunday, peering through the chain link fence at Wascana Pool waiting for three women to exercise their newly won right to go topless.

What started out as an exercise in women's rights is quickly becoming a buffoonish display of male titillation. Not that Saskatoon can make any particular claims to cultural superiority in this regard, but you'd likely see more naked flesh in an afternoon at Edgefest, and hear some music, too.
