The case of two Regina women charged after removing their tops in a downtown
park has been adjourned until later this month. Evangeline Godron and Kathleen Rice
were charged after they shed their clothes to challenge the legal treatment of topless
women.
They each face one count of creating an indecent exhibition in a public place
after baring their breasts last August. The protest followed the acquittal in Ontario
of topless protester Gwen Jacobs on a charge of committing an indecent act.
A lawyer for one of the Regina women argues the Ontario Court of Appeal ruling
should apply nationally. The case has been adjourned until July 22nd because the
provincial court judge hearing the case was unavailable today.
