It may be hot and legal but bare-breasted women are not swarming area beaches.
A quick survey of people working at the sun and sand centres on the weekend
revealed a limited number of women taking advantage of their legal right to go topless.
"There were a few, a couple playing beach volleyball yesterday,"
an employee at Gt's Portside bar on the Port Stanley beach said Sunday.
Markham Roza, general manager of Coco's bar in Grand Bend, said there were
a few topless sunbathers on the beach on the weekend but Thursday was a busy day
when he had "at least a dozen" topless women in the bar.
EUROPEANS:
They were mostly Europeans from France and Italy and couldn't speak English,
he said, however they understood enough to enjoy the freedom to go bare-breasted.
"Thursday was jumping down at the beach, too," said Roza.
There were a lot of topless women on the beach that day and he talked to
a few of them. "Everyone was taking it nonchalant," he said. "I don't
know what it is but there are more (topless women) on the pseudo slow days than
on the weekends," he said.
A Fanshawe Park employee in London whose duties take him to the beach regularly
said he hadn't seen any topless sunbathers.
