Noting that Ontario's high court had declared it legal for women to bare their breasts in public, Ottawa apartment manager Karen LaLonde thought she'd free hers in a bold move for women's-tit liberation everywhere. She started going through her day's routine at the apartment house she manages dressed only in a blue skirt and black high heels. A local paper heard about it and published pictures of her vacuuming and collecting rent topless. As a result the number of men coming by her office in recent weeks to "see about renting an apartment" has shot up to record levels. Lots of delivery men have been by as well, mistakenly trying to deliver something, anything. This irritates LaLonde, who takes her cause seriously, but she isn't backing down or covering up. "God gave me these babies," she says, "so I'm not going to be ashamed of them." (The Ottawa Citizen)
