Nepean MPP John Baird has asked the legislature to start the cover-up of bare breasts
in Ontario. He presented a petition on behalf of a Greely woman:
"To the Parliament of Ontario:
"Whereas at this time in the province of Ontario it is not illegal for a woman
to appear topless in public, and due to the fact that this lack of restriction offends
a large percentage of Ontarians;
"We, the undersigned, petition the government of Ontario to introduce legislation
that would make it illegal for a woman to appear topless in any public place, except
in clearly marked designated beach areas."
There are over 600 signatures with that and 600 additional signatures without the
last line, "except in clearly marked designated beach areas." .
