June 28: LETTERS
I AM having trouble understanding the female side of the bare breasts issue
with respect to women's rights. There is no question that the human body is a work
of art, but for a woman to expose herself in this way is akin to hanging a Renoir
or a Van Gogh in a public toilet. It does little to elevate the toilet, but seriously
devalues the work of art. What a price to pay for equality. I have heard Europe
held up as a model for justifying this trend. However, what seems to be omitted
in the comparison is the fact that in Europe, concurrent with their moving in this
direction, was a dramatic rise in rape cases. And predictably so, because the bare
breast is a sexual stimulant for men. What a leap forward for women's rights!

ARE THE women who parade around topless in public on the main streets letting
their brains hang out?
