SCREENING NEEDED FOR JUSTICES: MP
By BRAD HONYWILL -- Toronto Sun
Potential high-court justices
in Canada should go through the same kind of hearing process required for candidates
in the United States, says York South-Weston MP John Nunziata.
The veteran MP made his comments at a protest against women baring their breasts
in public. The assembly was part of the church service at the non-denominational
Prayer Palace on Jane St. in North York.
Nunziata said a hearing process for top judges will help prevent rogue rulings
like the Ontario Court of Appeal decision making it legal for a woman to go topless
in public.
Nunziata said the public has a right to know about the background of candidates
for senior judicial positions.
