Public nakedness is a sin
After reading Linda Bingham's letter (Aug. 27), I could not help
but wonder if she has ever studied the Bible.
God views public nakedness as sinful and immoral (Exodus 32:25-28).
Though unpalatable to many, He must and will judge all sin (Jude 14,15).
When Christ visited the country of the Gadarenes, He was met by
a man possessed with an unclean spirit who was both naked and demented.
The Lord graciously saved him and he was found by those who had
known him "sitting, clothed, and in his right mind." (Mark 5:15). One
truth this incident reveals is that God covers, satan uncovers. In 1Tim.2:9 women
are instructed by God not to expose themselves but to "adorn themselves in
modest apparel."
Linda Bingham condemns me for being judgmental while simultaneously
stating that men who oppose the public toplessness of women "breed closed-minded
people, which in itself is evil." That sounds pretty judgmental to me.
The fact is ministers of God's Word are commanded to openly contend
against sin. The Lord declares, "They shall teach the difference between the
holy and the profane And in controversy they shall stand in judgment; and they shall
judge it according to my judgments." (Ezekiel 44:23, 24)
Clearly, they are not "playing God" when they do
so; they are simply obeying God.
