LETTERS TO THE EDITOR

SEX ON DISPLAY IN PRIDE PARADE
Perhaps Mayor Dianne Haskett in formulating a proclamation policy felt that she was best serving London by attending to a situation "before it blew." Neither the organizers of the Toronto Pride parade nor the Metro Toronto police seem willing or able to contain the activities of that gathering.
The Toronto parade and the brochure I saw detailing London's Pride Week activities would lead one to believe that gays and lesbians do not share Morris Dalla Costa's disassociation of sex from the festivities, but rather take pride in it.
George Orwell's depiction of a society that for the good of the people molded their thoughts is with us today and The London Free Press will teach us how to deny what we see for ourselves.
The child who shouted that the emperor was naked was not emperor-phobic, but truthfully acknowledging what everyone else felt the pressure to ignore. If I report that I have seen images of men being whipped during a parade or engaging in S&M in a brochure, I obviously must be trained either not to see or not to say.
Let's go to the T.O. parade next year, Dalla Costa. You can clamp your hand over my mouth before I blurt out something incorrect and get hauled away by the thought police.
