August 1986. Enters the ELN movement in the Colombian province of Antioquia. Is highly favored by MANUEL PEREZ MARTINEZ.

1989. Takes on the responsibility of the ELN's international atictivities.

-Establishes a permanent office in Habana, Cuba.

-Ensures the ELN's presence in international events: Sao Paulo Forum and Latin American terrorist get-togethers.

-Maintains communication channels with terrorist groups in Chile, Uruguay, Peru and Argentina.

-Training of Venezuelan terrorist groups.

-Establishment of workgroups throughout Europe intended to use Human Rights groups as pawns in the fight against the Colombian Nation.

-Design and maintenance of logistical supply routes from Panama, Venezuela and Ecuador for the transport of weapons, munitions and high powered explosives into Colombia.

1991. Commissioned in conjunction with GERARDO BERMUDEZ SANCHEZ as the representatives of the ELN for the peace talks in Caracas and Tlaxcala.

September 1991. Sentences the peace seeking and demobilised guerilla "Corriente de Renovación Socialista" to death, and helps send many of its members to their graves.

1993. Named third in charge of the terrorist group ELN.
