OFFICERS DEALING WITH SCHOOL MASSACRE NEED YOUR WORDS OF SUPPORT AND ENCOURAGEMENT!
Newsline Members Can E-mail Them At: OFFICERSUPPORT@CALIBREPRESS.COM
If you watched ABC's Nightline last night (4/22/99), you saw parents and students in Jonesboro (AR), the scene of a tragic school shooting last year, sharing words of support and guidance with parents and students from Columbine High School in Littleton (CO), the scene of the most recent school massacre. Although this program was likely of great benefit to the parents and students of the Littleton area, what was lacking were words of support and guidance for the law enforcement officers and emergency response team members who were -- and continue to be -- forced to deal with this unthinkable tragedy up-close andpersonal.
These are the men and women who protected and comforted the students and teachers trying to escape during the siege, who risked their lives searching every inch of the school for bombs, who had to document the blood-drenched crime scene and who had to remove the bodies of murdered teenagers from the school. These are the men and women who will have to cope with the nightmare visions of what they saw in the aftermath...and who, if they areparents, will have to send their own children into the world while those visions still loom in their minds. Hundreds of officers who have experienced critical incidents have told us that the most helpful element in their healing process was the support they received from fellow officers.
HERE'S YOUR CHANCE TO HELP. Calibre Press has created a SPECIAL E-MAIL ACCOUNT for officers around the world to use to send their words of advice, support and encouragement to the officers in the Littleton area who are dealing with this ordeal.
The SPECIAL E-MAIL ADDRESS IS:mailto:officersupport@calibrepress.com
Each message received at this account will be forwarded to Street Survival Newsline member Glenn Howell with the Jefferson Co. (CO) SD (one of the lead agencies handling the investigation of the shooting). Glen in turn will distribute your words of support to the officers in the Littleton area.

To all my fellow traders I bring bad news of a fellow brother in blue. Off Ron Spruill. a patrol officer with the Allentown PA pd was diagnosed with cancer a few months ago. It was initially thought to be a stomach ulcer. Upon surgery for same they found large amounts of cancer in abdomen area. They went in for surgery again about 2-3 weeks ago, and discontinued the surgery , after finding his stomach and intestine area to be fully infected with cancer. We were planning another benefit basketball game for him to raise funds for his family. We were given the news today that the cancer is now terminal and they give him less than five weeks to live. He has a wife and young daughter (3yo) at home. The insurance only covers so much and the family is forced to foot the rest of the bill.
His close friends and fellow officers are attempting events that
can raise money for he and his family. They have chosen to sell a tweed black baseball cap with the smaller version of our dept patch on front. It has his badge # 41 embroidered on the back.
I dont have to remind you all that this is happening just as we enter the holiday season! Any help or donations would be greatly appreciated by both his family and fellow officers.
The hats are $20.00 but that includes shipping and handling (US only)
Appreciate you all taking time out to read this. And please keep Ronnie and his family in your prayers.
Correspondence can be sent to me at:

c/o Officer John P. Blair #24
I have gotten a great turn out so far for requests! WE ALL appreciate what you are doing for Ronnies family and the morale of the Allentown PA pd. No finer human beings than those who wear the badge!
Thanks all and BE SAFE,
john b24five0
PS: Place #41 on checks so as not to add to my confusion, with all of the benefits going on for Ronnie.
THANKS TO ALL
