PURPOSE

Aside from being mandated by the state, our DSB is truly mandated by the needs of our population. In an effort to compile a true needs assessment we went to the general population. This will be addressed further in the data collection section.

The West Piedmont Disability Services Board has had little public and consumer input. We have persons with disabilities on our board as mentioned previously, who help provide insight into the unique needs of persons with disabilities, but each circumstance is different and presenting different needs can necessitate more resources than are actually available. It is our purposed to poll the public at large asking pertinent questions to direct us in our role as a functioning DSB. The instrument designed by Peninsula's DSB was used in our data collection. We like to think of this needs assessment as a means to "GET THE WORD AND GET IT WHERE IT NEEDS TO BE." (quoting a DSB member)
