READ RAY BERRY'S REASONS FOR SHARING BELOW. REMEMBER THESE COPYRIGHTED BUSH 'TOONS MAY BE COPIED FROM RAY'S SITE, http://www.rayberry.com/toons/index.html
THEY MAY BE SUBSCRIBED TO AT THAT SITE, AND MAY BE USED FREE FOR PERSONAL PURPOSES ONLY. FOLLOWING IS RAY BERRY'S STATEMENT:
I created Bush-Toons quite by accident. As a voting citizen, I was so frustrated over the "selection" of a President by the U.S.Supreme Court, rather than the people and the sovereign laws of the great State of Florida, that I began making Bush-Toons to amuse my friends in my emails in early June, 2001.
Immediately people responded positively. I soon recognized this huge amount of pent-up energy among many unhappy fellow citizens on the web, so I decided to put a few Toons up on my art website just for fun. Within days people started visiting my site, because my friends had forwarded the Toons to their friends as I had requested.
As I began making many more Toons, I decided to take the website seriously and create a unique site on the web for FREE Email Bush-Toons for the writing public and fellow disgruntled citizens who enjoy loyal opposition political humor.
On June 13, 2001, the terrific website: Democrats.com published one of my Bush-Toons on their home page. Seeing the potential activist power of a larger audience for my follies, I made even more Toons. I started a daily Toons newsletter to my friends, and before I knew it many people were visiting my site and writing to me. So I had to start a mass email newsletter to control the volume of Toons requests.
There is no money in it, because the site is solely editorial and free of advertising.
Because as a middle aged American citizen, and having voted since I was eighteen, I became infuriated over the current Right Wing Oligarchy that has assumed the Office of the Presidency in a non-democratic fashion, and has begun in full force to take our great nation backwards to the horrible 20th Century in mind set, social policy, the environment, and Cold War militarism.
I have found out quite quickly that I can have "some" impact on many people on the web through my Toons, which satirize the current Bush & Company regime and their antics in an intellectual way. The Toons further illustrate to me that one picture can capture a thousand words as many people have written to tell me.
In closing, THE ENTIRE WORLD HAS CHANGED DRASTICALLY in the last decade for the better since the "Cold War" died an ugly exhausted and bankrupting death worldwide. President Clinton, may have had his personal faults, but he truly was the First Modern President of the new millennium. His vision and political leadership for the future created the greatest time-frame of growth, peace, and prosperity America has ever witnessed.
But I also realize, that the mind set of militarism and global control, false moralism, and the dumbing-down that America has lived politically since l945 does not go away easily or quickly!
What we are witnessing now in the "Throw Back Oligarchical Presidency" of GW Bush & Company to the 20th Century, is merely the last gasp of fire of the "Dying Dragon" of yesterday, who no longer has a place in our modern inter-connected and inter-dependent greater multi-cultural world.
The growth of equitable progressive culture worldwide will not and cannot be stopped, and perhaps even George W. Bush will realize it in due course. Culture always grows in a staggered way. America has staggered to the right currently and will soon move back to the center!
In my view, I even think GW Bush has done the majority of progressive American citizens a favor over the long view. Millions of our peoples are now focused quite clearly on what we don't want, and this gives birth to the clarity of what we do want for our future at home and with our relationship with the greater peoples of our small world.
In the end GW Bush & Company will prove to be just a temporary non-important "blip" in the annals of the growth of progressive American culture in the new century.
But I will admit here, GW Bush & Company's blatant political imperfections sure make great Toons! :)
