HIGHDUKE'S GREATER SERBIAN HOMEPAGE

The material on this website consists of the following:

- scanned pages from the writings of dozens of West European and Islamic historians

- scanned pages from the writings of Albanian & Croatian dissident & mainstream academics

- scanned pages from writings of ancient historians

- scanned pages from writings of physical & cultural anthropologists

- latest genetic research in electronic format

- scans of original medieval documents

- professional on-line genealogies compiled by genealogists & descendants of families in question.

The aim this website is to rely on the earliest documentation of the ethno-tribal structure of the Western Balkans as described in historical documents pertaining to the Dark & Middle Ages – in order to prove that the Greater Serbian Idea is not merely an “expansionist foreign policy” - but that all people who today identify as Bosniaks, Macedonians, Montenegrins including most people who today identify as Croats and Albanians – are ancestral Serbs, whose ancestors were assimilated into new or existing ethnic formations only a few centuries ago (after the Middle Ages), at a time when the Serbian & Bosnian Kingdoms were destroyed by the Ottomans and Serb lands were partitioned between Catholic & Muslim empires, both of which were hostile to Serb interests in particular & Slavic unity in general, and thus worked to divide Serbs internally on the basis of their religious affiliation.

In the 20th century, “Ethnic Regionalism” was enforced ideologically by Croatian-Slovene-Muslim Communists under Tito specifically in Macedonia & Montenegro and externally by pressure from the US & Britain particularly in Montenegro - in the form of offering Montenegro preferential economic & political status to separate from Serbia.

Thus: Catholics in Bosnia, Hercegovina, Dalmatia & Slavonija became Croats; Muslims became ‘Bosniaks’ or slowly assimilated into Albanians in Kosovo and much of Albania; Orthodox Serbs in southern Serbia became ‘Macedonians’ while half of the Serbs in Montenegro identify their ethnicity with their particular region.

The historic, long-term goal of the Ottoman Empire, Austria-Hungary, the United States & Britain has always been anti-Russian and anti-Orthodox:

to indirectly weaken Russia’s influence in Europe by destroying the ethnic cohesion of the Serbs.

De Administrando Imperio
by Byzantine Emperor Constantine VII Porphyrogenitus
a chronicle of the events of the early 7th & 10th centuries:
Macedonia, Bosnia, Hercegovina, Dalmatia & Serbia
were populated & ruled by Serbs

This section features scanned pages from the only available English translation of De Administrando Imperio by Byzantine scholar Gyula Moravcsik The Serbs had been resettled from Macedonia to Bosnia, Hercegovina, Dalmatia, Zeta & Raska by the same Emperor Heraclius who had invited both Serbs & Croats to settle in the Balkans. According to Porphyrogenitus, Serbs formed the original population of those regions from the early 7th century up to 955 AD . This means that D.A.I was written a full 2 decades after Bosnia & Dalmatia had been first occupied by Croatia.
De Administrando Imperio is rejected by Catholic and Muslim academics in Bosnia & Croatia, although it is internationally recognized. They reject this work because it so clearly and specifically identifies Bosnia, Hercegovina & Dalmatia as exclusively Serb populated territory that it leaves no room for legitimate debate or questioning.

The Alexiad by Anna Comnena
a chronicle of the events of the late 11th century:
Medieval Dalmatia was populated and ruled by Serbs

This section features scanned pages from a translation of The Alexiad by Byzantine scholar E.R.A Sewtrer originally written in 1125 AD. The author was a noblewoman of the ruling house of Byzantium. She is unsurprisingly anti-Serb because the Serb princes of Zeta had brought all Serbs outside of Byzantium under their rule and were warring with Byzantium to liberate Lipenium (Lipnik, Kosovo) & the Zygum Mountains (Prokletije, Kosovo).

This is the period immediately following Croatia’s voluntary forfeiting of its independence to Hungary and gives us a good look at the ethnic order of Dalmatia, Kosovo & Macedonia right after Croatia’s brief occupation of Dalmatia and B&H that started in 920 AD, had ended which remained as it had been since the 7th century.

Comnena refers to Serbs and Dalmatians in the same sense. Comnena refers to Vukan (Bolkan) and Bodin (Bodinus) Nemanjic as Dalmatians several times and she identifies Dalmatia, Zeta, Serbia and Raska as Serb lands ruled by Vukan & Bodin’s royal house. Comnena also shows that no croatization of the Dalmatian population ever occurred during their brief Medieval occupation by Croatia. The map below shows, among other things, the city of Servia in the vicinity of Thessaloniki founded by the Serbs in the 6th century, still standing in the late 11th century,

The Medieval Rulers of Bosnia:
featuring scans of the original medieval documents
written on parchment in the 12th, 13th & 14th centuries

The information below is linked to a website I worked on with 5 other men from around the world in 1999-2000, each of whom contributed something to the body of knowledge we were putting together. The rulers of Bosnia identified themselves personally, as well as their lineage and their subjects - as Serbs. There is no mention of Croats, certainly no mention of ‘Bosniaks’ or any sort of independent Bosnian identity

This is the period almost 3 centuries after Croatia’s voluntary forfeiting of its independence to Hungary and gives us a good look at the ethnic order of Bosnia long after Croatia’s brief occupation of Dalmatia and B&H that started in 920 AD, had ended.

Refuting the book:
Heavenly Serbia: from Myth to Genocide
by Croatian academic, Branimir Anzulovic

All pages I cited are scanned, uploaded and linked in all of the writings below so that even the most skeptical reader would not doubt the authenticity of the information. I have cited from numerous other works by Western & even Croatian academics who refute Anzulovic’s statements. I have pointed out unsubstantiated statements & conclusions made by Anzulovic that lack proper referencing & citation. I’ve pointed out numerous nebulous logical fallacies, as well. These articles appeared on ILLYRIA FORUMS in early 2006.

INTRODUCTION

------------------------
(I)
NAZIS, USTASE & PARTISANS IN WWII:
Improper citation & misrepresenting quoted statements. Anzulovic inadvertently
reveals Croatian NAZI collaboration, the fact that Tito’s Partizans were
largely composed of non-Serbs & that the communist system was not controlled
by Serbs & that the Bleiburg massacre was conducted by Croat & Slovene Partizans
to get them all on the side of the victories Allied Powers, instead of the Nazis & Fascists.

---------------------------
(II)
FOLKLORE & DEPRAVITY:
Anzulovic attempts to show Serbian ‘barbarity’ by exploiting an old folk
custom of executing elderly invalids practiced only in a small corner
of eastern in the 19th century. Then I quote from
the Golden Bough by James Frazer to reveal even more morbid Croatian
folk-songs, customs and stories that I link to the beginning of the first
initial atrocities in the Balkans in WWII. Anzulovic here admits that
Croatian ethnic identity is based on religion & cosmopolitanism instead of
common language & culture, like most other ethnic groups. We also learn from
Anzulovic that Goethe was a Greater Serb nationalist.
---------------------------
(III)
RELIGIOSITY IN COMMUNIST YUGOSLAVIA:
Anzulovic misinterprets the findings of a survey in the Belgrade daily,Politika
from the 1980s by ludicrously trying to portray Serbs as ‘atheistic’
to hide the fact that Orthodoxy was persecuted by Tito while Islam & Catholicism
flourished by comparison. Then he tries to dismiss the Vatican’s role in
Nazism and Izetbegovic’s Islamic Declaration.

---------------------------
(IV)
SCHOOLBOOKS & PROPAGANDA:
Anzulovic misinterprets an analysis of schoolbooks while comparing turn of
the century school books from the Kingdom of Serbia compared to
Croatian schoolbooks printed in the Dual Monarchy.

Skenderbeg, the 15th century Serb Prince of Albania:
Genealogy compiled by his descendant
Loris Castriota-Scanderbegh
and 12 W. European genealogists

This genealogy shows that Skenderbeg was descended from Branilo Castriota, his great grandfather and a Serb nobleman who was duke of Janina and Kastoria in the late 14th century. He was assassinated by a Turkish sympathizer, his lands were taken by the Ottomans and his sons, Paul & John fled to Albania & organized an anti-Ottoman resistance which Skenderbeg continued. Skenderbeg’s brother was named Stanisa (a pagan Serb name). Stanisa’s son was named Branilo a pagan Serb name. Skenderbeg’s sisters Jela, Valica and Marica also have pagan Serb names. .

Kosovo & Albania in Medieval Times:
Populated & Ruled by Serbs
with only marginal participation from Albanians

The Serb contribution to the extant Albanian population of Kosovo & Albania is one of the most deliberately underrated facts of Balkan history. The Serboi first settled in Northern Albania in the 7th century. The undifferentiated Slavs who preceded them settled in Southern Albania, a short distance from the town of Servia near Thessaloniki, also settled by the Serboi in the 7th century. These undifferentiated Slavs were eventually assimilated by the Serboi - 3 centuries before Bulgarians occupied Albania in Samuil’s time.

Kosovo was Byzantine territory, inhabited by Serbs, who had expanded from Northern Albania and Macedonia into Kosovo from the 7th century onward. They assimilated Romanized & Hellenized Illyrians (not Albanians). Eventually the Serb rulers of Dalmatia, Zeta & Raska, Bodin & Vukan liberated what was, by the 11th century, a largely Serb populated Kosovo.

During the Middle Ages, half the population of Albania was Serbian. But Albanians converted to Islam. Because of their quicker birthrate, they quickly overwhelmed the Albanian Christians and the Serb Christians and altered Albania’s demographics. The new Albanian Muslim ruling class was easier on the Albanian Christians. But the Serb Christians of Albania were forced to assimilate. The Christian Serb first became a Muslim convert and his children, sent to Albanian madressas would quickly become Albanian speakers. This was the same process by which Kosovo was colonized from Northern Albania in Ottoman Times.

The Origin of the Albanians

Albanian ethno genesis has never been properly explained, partly as a result 4 decades of deliberate distortions from Abania's communist controlled pseudo-scholarship, which has made only slight improvements in the last decade. The theory presented here is different & more credible than others because it makes abundant use of the fossil record & physical anthropology, which are usually avoided by mainstream scholars for political reasons.
