Interstate 69

Interstate 69 currently runs from Port Huron, Michigan to the I-465 loop outside Indianapolis, Indiana. There are plans to extend it to Laredo Texas. This is part of ISTEA/NHS High Priority Corridors 18 and 20. Part of this corridor is located in southeast Arkansas.

UPDATE!

Andy Field recently posted this info to MTR:

`(A) In Tennessee, Mississippi, Arkansas, and Louisiana, the Corridor shall-- `(i) follow the alignment generally identified in the Corridor 18 Special Issues Study Final Report; and `(ii) run in an East/South direction to United States Route 61 and cross the Mississippi River (in the vicinity of Memphis, Tennessee) to Highway 79, and then follow Highway 79 south to 2 miles west of Altimer, Arkansas, and across the Arkansas River at Lock and Dam Number 4, Arkansas, and then proceed south in the direction of Monticello, Arkansas, and link up with the route proposed in the Corridor 18 Special Issues Study Final Report which would continue to Haynesville, Louisiana.

Apparently, I-69 will follow US 79 from Memphis to just northeast of Pine Bluff, bypass Pine Bluff to the east, follow US 425 fo Monticello, and then possibly follow parts of US 278 and Arkansas 15 to El Dorado. My guess is that it will follow a mostly new alignment to Moro Bay, and follow Arkansas 15 into El Dorado, and then a mostly new alignment to the LA border.

For more information on this highway, go to Andy Field's page by clicking here. He has more information than I could possibly come up with.
