JKLF-London on Hunger strike in solidarity with Yasin Malik

 London 24th May, 2000

On the day when JKLF Chairman Yasin Malik and his senior colleagues from APHC went on a 36 hour symbolic hunger strike in Srinagar to protest against extra judicial killings of 67 Kashmiris over the last 7 months by Indian authorities, leaders of the JKLF in UK also sat on a hunger strike at the Indian High Commission in Aldwych, London.

JKLF hunger strikers include Shabir Choudhry JKLF President with colleagues Majid Tramboo and Mohammed Najib (London), Asim Mirza, Abass Butt (Watford), Liaquat Choudhry and Ishaq Mughal (Luton), most of whom intend to make the solidarity strike last till Thursday 6 pm.

JKLF activists in Srinagar, Azad Kashmir, USA, Europe and UK today expressed solidarity with their leader Yasin Malik and expressed the hope that his timely action would highlight the plight of the Kashmiri prisoners in Indian jails and victims of the Indian atrocities across the state of Jammu-Kashmir.

Meanwhile members of JKLF in Azad Kashmir and the J&K Youth Alliance held a picket at the Indian Mission in Islamabad and presented a protest petition.
