NEW YORK TIMES!!: Sunday, January 31, the front page of the Times did a very large story on the AOL controversy over the discussion boards and TOS violations. This adds to the coverage that has been seen in the Irish Northern Aid Committee paper, IRISH PEOPLE, which made a reference to UNION's call for a boycott of AOL. Sheridan also mentioned the AOL's attack on the Irish language as well. MSNBC has a new story about a virus that likes AOL accounts and passwords. AOL has not responded to MSNBC or the Irish People. Letters of complaint about AOL have also appeared in the Irish Voice. A UNION letter was also published on-line by IRWAC's Dissenter UNION has followed the call of some Irish activists to boycott America On-Line, after a story appearing in the Irish People that AOL has cut Irish forums. This is not the first attack on AOL for attacking its consumers. While AOL has re-established many of the Irish forums, letters to the Irish People show that AOL continues to be abusive with what it calls TOS (terms of service) violations, an on-going problem for many AOL subscribers. RM Distribution raised the concern of racism regarding Gaelic, the Irish language. However, AOL spokesperson denied such discrimination in an interview with the Ireland newspaper, the Irish News, but AOL has a history of preferring English only. UNION will continue this boycott to urge change in the way AOL treats online users.
